Normally, I'm not an Oprah fan. I know that makes me part of the minority in the world of daytime TV watchers. That's okay, I can live with it. So, when a friend sent the link to a video today from an episode of the Oprah show, I almost just hit delete. But something stopped me, that little thought you have that says, "hmmm, just wait." So I gave it the benefit of the doubt, and I am so glad I did.
I want to share it with you... so please give it a chance. I think you will be glad you did.
The Final Lecture by Dr. Randy Pausch
After you watch the video, come back to this sunset ... for the rest of the story.

Isn't that a beautiful sunset? It was an amazing ending to a tough day. If you've read my blog for a while, you might recognize that it was taken from the balcony of my parents' condo on the Gulf of Mexico. Yesterday we had to do what so many of you have done already or will also have to do someday. My mom went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (2/16/08) and the funeral was yesterday. The sunset was a beautiful way to say "goodbye."
Thanks, God, for letting us know You have everything under control in such a beautiful way. She is there not only in the presence of the Lord, but also seeing those things that are beyond our imagination. She is no longer suffering, but filled with peace, joy, and perfect love.
"No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined the things that God has prepared for those who love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9
In sympathy for your loss...those of us who live in faith know we'll see our loved ones again. That thought is very reassuring, especially when the loss is so new.
