Hey Dude, Where's My Links?

By
Real Estate Agent with Independent Brokers Realty

I just sat down to write a post on a special topic. It was to be an epic work, on the order of Tolstoy or Victor Hugo. It would have had a social impact similar to "Das Kapital," "Mathematica Principia," "The Evolution of Species," or "The Wealth of Natons." It was a post that would have changed the course of history and caused not only a paradigm shift, but a QUANTUM paradigm shift in our industry and commerce in general. After reading it, you would be able to sell real estate on other planets just by using your psychic abilities.

But then it happened. Something disturbing. It gave me writers block and I lost my whole brilliant chain of thought.

What terrible thing happened, you ask? I discovered that the link-insert function (the little chain thing) on this blog editor is grayed out. I am wondering if I can use the html to to link to a site like Minneapolis real estate and it will work. I suppose I could check the draft and see if a link appears.

I will go check right now... ...waiting... ..waiting....

Ok, I'm back. Yep, the html worked just fine. It made a clickable link. So it seems that you can still use the html to give you or your buddies a link. As long as the links are relevant and not over-used, I don't see any harm in it. It's no secret that we all come to this site to get a few links, and maybe a little exposure. Besides, if the web doesn't have links, then it really isn't a "web" anymore, is it? Links facilitate conversation and information flow.

Does anyone know if there is a "nofollow" code pasted onto these links? I suppose I could post this, and then try to figure that out. A "nofollow" code would certainly de-incentivize post writing on AR. I am wondering if the grayed out link-insert button in the WYSIWYG editor is meant to reduce the number of links the members will create, or if the WSIWYG editor is just not working correctly for me tonight.

If you know anything about this, please let me know.

Kermit - Links in comment text are "nofollow", but signature links and those in posts are normal.  I actually wrote a featured post you might find interesting on this very topic:
