The verdict is in!

So it is final..... my son Alan will going to Baker University in Baldwin City Kansas to attend college in August. I am so happy and yet so sad.

I have three children and this one is my middle child, oldest son. He just turned 18 and he has been awarded a scholarship to play football and get his education!!!!!!

I am one PROUD MOM!

With the departure of Alan (handsome son above), I will be left with one more at home and then I will be an empty nester!!! Yikes... am I really getting to be that age already? I sure don't feel like it.

Alan is the current record holder in 5 categories as QB for our local Van Buren High School and he will be playing QB for Baker as well. He is 6`4 and weighs in about 210. He is an Honor Student, Leader in his Youth Group at First Baptist Church Van Buren, gives talks on Abstinence to the lower classes, volunteers in the community, and overall is just a great kid.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Real Estate except for one of my big why`s as to how come I love my job and want to continue to do well. I want to be able to give my kids things & opportunities I never had when I was younger.

I thought I might just share a little bit of what I pray is a fruitful college experience for him. His Coach, Mike Grossner is personal friends and works with Payton Manning at the Manning Passing Academy and played ball with Mike McCarthy of the Green Bay Packers, who was recently inducted into the Baker University Hall of Fame. I believe that my son will have some opportunities that will benefit him well into his adult life. And really... I sure wont feel bad for him having those kind people in his Rolodex when he gets older!

If you don't mind my sappy mother rants... I will continue to post my journey of watching my son go and grow through college!

This is what we live for and can look back and wonder how time goes by so fast.

Susan, We raise our kids to move on and be independent,t then we have to learn to be independent. Being a mother is tough but very rewarding. Your son is very handsome and seems very talented. You should be very proud. Good luck!

Thanks Gary and Roberta! He is one wonderful human being! I have been very blessed. I am happy to see him going off to learn what life is like ooutside of our small community. He is destined for good things to come his way and I cant wait to celebrate in his successes!

Susan, congrats on Alan's next step in life, I'm seeing more bleacher butt in your future, LOL.

BTW, empty nesting isn't to bad once you get use to it. grin

If I was only a couple years younger! Very good looking man. I wish him all the luck in his endeavors. I'll be hones, I'm not sure I'll be able to handle my kids all grown up and away from the nest! They bring such joy to my life. Sounds like you've done a great job in raising them. Keep it up mom!

Susan, please tell Alan Congratulations!!!! It is great that everything worked out well for him. Please tell him, from me, sports is great, but keep his focus on the academics. Great seeing you today!!!!

You have a right to be a proud mom and congratulations to your son, It sounds like he works hard and even after his football career he has a head on his shoulder and will succeed in whatever he chooses to do.

Obviously your son has a pretty good mom to raise a boy with such high standards, so he should be just as proud of you are you of him,
