What is Search Engine Optimization?

Google is King! Well according to recent statistics over 60% of online users use Google, approximately 30% for Yahoo, 10% MSN and so on.

The Definition of Search Engine Optimization according to Wikipedia:

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines.

When I think of Natural SEO, I think of "Algorithm". We are going back to high school or college, Algrebra Class.
WebsiteFactor1 x WebsiteFactor2 x WebsiteFactor (etc) = Google Rankings (Algorithm)
So here are some ideas about the Factors of Google's Algorithm.

What you cannot control to help your site to achieve higher ranking on Google:

Domain Name Age

·         the main idea is - the older your "cached" domain name is, the better
·         Another Factor is Having  Keywords in your Domain Name
·          Example - Google Search " charlotte homes "
·          CharlotteHomes.com - has "Charlotte Homes" in its Domain Name
·         and joannsellscharlotte.com - has only "Charlotte"

What you can Control to help your site to achieve higher ranking on Google:

Title Tag

Having your Keyword Phrase that you are aiming for in your <Title> Tag
Example - Network Support Services:

(View in top bar: "Charlotte Networking Services, charlotte computer networking, charlotte networking computers)

Keyword Analysis

Google sees each page of your website as a theme, so studies have suggested that having 2-3 keywords per website page is optimal, so by doing a keyword analysis and then spreading out your keywords over all your website pages, this maximizes your number of keywords and your effectiveness to Google

For example - Sdmattress.com has over 300 pages that Google has cached:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site%3Asdmattress.com&btnG=Google+Search
So theoretically one way to effectively use keywords is having more pages that obtain those main keywords:  300 pages x 2-3 keywords per page = a total of 600-900 keywords (that's a lot of bill boards on the internet)

·         And you will receive monthly reports and meetings, showing your increase in: Traffic and Keyword Rankings on Google, Yahoo and MSN, we will also build new pages to add to your keyword portfolio and your traffic

What a well-thought out article.  Just goes to show how much information there is out there to get some definitive answers.  Although the process of search engine optimization seems simple, it really is a multi-tiered plan which requires a vast amount of knowledge.  Also, I noticed that you had reached number one on Google today with your SEO.  Congrats.  Major accomplishment.

Just wondered what your take is on this whole Yahoo purchase by Microsoft?  In light of the dominance being exercised by Google over searches as a whole, how does that impact or diminish their argument about Microsoft using Yahoo to monopolize the search engine field?  Do you think that it is not a case of the pot calling the kettle black?  Also, what do you think would be the overall impact from a users standpoint if Microsoft (or when) buys/takes over Yahoo?  Do you think that the current methods of search engine optimization will change in light of Microsoft's manner of reinventing the sectors in which they participate?

Thanks.

However, there are some jobs in IT that tend to be consistently well paid. A multi-media specialist can often command a really high salary. IT security and anti-fraud specialists are also in big demand and they can have a big salary as way of remuneration. Computer applications programmers also tend to be well paid, as do database administrators, but it can obviously depend on the size of the database! These 5 jobs always seem to attract high quality candidates SEO PPC SEM and so they are not all that easy to enter into, but due to the complex and very new world of IT, these positions may be advertised at £50-100k or they can be remunerated at much less than this, depending on the size of the firm. So there are no guarantees with IT jobs SEO Jobs, PPC Jobs SEM Jobs, apart from some development and security positions, that you will be earning seriously large amounts of money. kitty seo ppc and it jobs uk
