Habit of Reading

This morning I went to one of my (new) regular networking group meetings.  The leader of the group had forewarned us that he'd be giving a book review of The Greatest Salesman In The World by Og Mandino.  He talked about how this little book had made such a profound impact in/on his life as he started reading and re-reading it 20+ years ago.

One thing stood out to me as he talked, he read the book's instruction to read one of the "Scrolls" every day - morning, noon, and night, for 30 days before moving on to the next "Scroll" and repeating the exercise.  The morning and noon reading were to be done silently, but the evening reading was to be done aloud.  (He gave a caution, that for those who are married it would be important to let your spouse/family know what you're up to so they don't get annoyed or think you're crazy due to the out-loud-reading every evening.

I thought about that and realized that's really a good idea that can be improved upon - namely, by reading something even more precious to me: the Bible.

But I don't want to just read any part of the Bible (sorry, but genealogies, Jewish law, and some of the tough-to-understand/interpret prophecies just don't do much for me as a daily inspirational/motivational reading.)  So here's what I plan to do:

Every day (at least 5 times per week) I will read a chapter of Proverbs (the chapter to correspond with the day of the month) plus Phillipians 4:8, and possibly one or two other parts that talk about what God wants me to think about and/or do.

Anyone care to join me in this exercise?  Let's see what it does for "fixing" our attitude and business!
