ActiveRain Tutorials LogoIt's been a while since I put up the last video tutorial.

So when Bill Herold sent me an email with a question about his comment signature, I saw it as an opportunity to do another. Bill wrote,

"My problem in looking at blog responses is that my name shows up as: Bill Herold edit delete and others show up with regular signature, company names, designation, etc"

Bill said he had searched and couldn't find out how to do this anywhere. A video tutorial is really overkill for this one, but I'm using a new screen capture software and truth be told, I'm looking for just about any excuse to use it. :)

Jeff,

Wow, are you quick!! It has amazed me that from the other side of the country that you have created a video just to respond to one question; Thank you soooooo much!  I have learned more in one hour from your tutorials starting with 170 x 170 and filling the frame to working up the profile text to move the point count to the upside.  Your information is easy to understand, works to fill Newbie needs and is super cool & valuable.

Thanks again for your time.  I am and I am sure you going to have a great day!!!

Jeff,

One more quick question.  In your tutorial demo, your signature ended with Edit Delete as my revised on does.  Others do not?  Reason?

Thanks again,

 Bill

I love your tutorials- I have saved them to bookmark- hope to get them all figured out soon.

Hey Jeff - another really cool tutorial! I knew how to do that, but for those who don't, this is perfect.

Bill - you may still be seeing 'edit/delete' because it's your signature, and you can edit it or delete.  I'm not seeing anything like that in your signature on your comment above.  But I will see that on my own, I bet, after I submit this.  I'll look at and see.

Bill - yep, I see that after my own signature, but it's because it is mine, and because I have the ability to edit or delete my comment. That's why you're seeing it after your own signature, but you're the only one who sees that on yours. We each see it on our own signatures, too. Hope that helps. Ann

Jeff,

Nicely done.  I have been wondering about this too, but not enough to pursue it.

Done.

Thanks.

Jeff & Ann,

Thank you both for answering the question.  Jeff's tutorials are really terrific and the utmost tweaking tools.

Informative video, Jeff. First one of yours that I took the time to watch. I now know what I was missing and that is good information.

Karen George was kind enough to teach this to me months ago.  What I like most is including where I am practicing real estate so everyone knows.  I believe this also helps with Google?

Hi Jeff, I my self had wondered about this very same topic for several months. Last week I got an epiphany and figured it out. Keep the great stuff roll'n and nice screen capture, I especially like how you integrate your picture in and out of the clip.

Oh Jeff who's better than you.   I would love to see a tutorial on doing a video tutorial...   How's that one for ya.   All the highlighting... zooming in and out...

But I guess than you'd be giving away all your secrets.   How's my wife by the way?

{SWV Hubba}...

I thought I'd share something funny with you :)

When the Member's starting putting their Cities/States first in their Comments...

I would address them by the name of the City.

As a result of this we now have a lovely whose nickname is "Gilbert" :)

Her real name is Candace and she works in Gilbert Arizona.

For whatever reason the "Gilbert" stuck with her. Imagine that :)

P.S. I needed an easy 25 points. I wounded my typing thumb and now only have to make 8 more comments to get my points :)

All... well, like I said, a full-blown tutorial on this was probably overkill, but I like learning in real situations. So, this helped me more than it has probably helped any of you. You can say this is a selfish post. :)

TLW [SVW]... that does not surprise me at ALL! :)

Bill... ActiveRain is first and foremost a social network. If I intended to spend time here, I should be social first. Part of being social is answering people's questions when they ask. I don't get that many each day, and most don't involve tutorials that can be used for Newbies here on AR. Sometimes I do a video and just send it directly to someone. I've done that for Photoshop several times, because the question was very specific. I enjoy it, so I'm glad you did as well!

I thought my not very elegant solution of appending my last name with the other stuff was just laziness on my part for not searching through the documetation and the archives :)  It's good to know that is really is the "official" way to accomplish the task.  Thanks for the post!

Jeff,

Thanks again for the help and it seems to be getting some mileage; most especially creating a video for an individual issue, but you certainly seem to be helping a lot others as well.  As a long time ago Washington & California transplant to the Georgia mountains , I do appreciate the time you took, the time difference and remembering that a lot of the good stuff starts out west and works back east & south.  Have a great evening and thanks again,

 Bill

Good video - here's a correlary to that question. How about the 'signature' lines at the bottom of a blog. Is there a place we can make a signature that can be appended to our blogs? and how do we get the linkage to our website either from our signature line or even within a blog? Like if I'm talking about San Francisco and want a reader to be able to link to something in SFO - how is that done? Thanks.

Jeff, Another tip that I implemented asap.  Details like this don't seem like much but are HUGE in the overall effectiveness of our branding.  Thanks for sharing your wealth of knowledge!

Evan,

I too agree; spent probably an hour trying to figure out how to do this, went thru the whole edit scenario a few times to no avail, finally in desperation sent Jeff Turner an email question which he took his time to create a tutorial just for this deal which is way beyond the call of duty.  Jeff's stuff is terrific!!

Jeff, I really don't have anything new to add here, I admit it, other than just a thanks for another tutorial. All of this blogging, social networks, videos, and the such really hasn't hit big here in Alabama so therefore good resources are hard to find here. Thanks for sharing your vast experience with us.

Hi Jeff

I am starting to explore videos, and chanced on your tutorial to add signatures.  Great tutorial. Easy to understand. I am going to try it.  Thanks for sharing and producing the tutorial.  Will visit your blog again.

Sherry,

It works and at least they know who you are and where you're at.  Jeff helped me figure this out in a flash after I spent at least an hour twice looking for directions on this change.  His other stuff is also super and makes a lot of these things easy to use & navigate. Jeff is the "Tutorial King"  My best to you and hope your beach market is picking up.

 Jeff,

Looks like you changed out your Jeff flic.  Keep up the great work; you other tutorials are a huge help and the site is getting interesting.  Have a good one!
