Why We Want You to be RICH, is a great book I would recommend to all who are interested in a real estate career, or are interested in making money in real estate.
Although much of the book deals in investing, and financial education in general. The main focus that I took out of reading it this past week was focusing on one type of investing. For both of these men, Donald Trump, and Robert Kiyosaki, that investment is real estate. They both feel they have power and control when investing in real estate.
They both state that they wrote this book, not as a "how to" become rich, but as a "how not to" be poor and educate yourself financially type of book. A great quote: "Money does not make you rich, knowledge makes you rich." Knowledge, a key component to a real estate market, shows us that we as educated real estate brokers are able to see opportunities in the economic changes we are seeing around us today.
Some of these changes are:
- The ever rising price of oil.
- National debt increasing
- All of the "BABY-BOOMERS" are starting to retire
- Wages are decreasing
- Jobs are being sent over seas
- Lack of financial education
We can take some of these above stated changes and make an opportunity out of them by educating our clients while they are in the buying or selling process. Many of these changes are forcing our clients to either buy or sell. Oil prices have recently run over $100 per barrel, therefore people are moving closer to their jobs. National and personal debt is increasing. People simply can not afford they home they live in. Baby-Boomers are retiring, selling their large homes and downsizing to a smaller home, often moving to retirement communities. Wages seem to be decreasing forcing the middle class to search for more and more affordable housing.
Taking this knowledge and applying it to your business will only help you in the long run. I got a great sense of my financial future by reading a little more into what Robert Kiyosaki wrote. I feel Robert is a great writer, and of course a very smart investor. He sets an example that we should all strive to meet. (If you are up to the challenge.)
A great read for anyone interested in growing their own business and financial education.
