A Trip to the Hand's On Children's Museum

This morning, I ventured out to the Hand's On Children's Museum in Olympia.  Together with my 3 yr old twin daughters and my mother, we set out for a morning of fun!  Having never been here before, we were all excited to see what the museum had to offer.  The museum is just wonderful!  The staff was very welcoming and friendly, and pointed out where the restrooms were first thing!  With 2 kiddos in the midst of potty training, this is a highly important destination.  The museum is divided into 3 areas - Health, Animals and Building.  I just didn't know what to say during our visit, since I didn't once have to say "Please don't touch that!"  The museum was clean and also had a snack bar if the tummies get the growls.  This museum is highly recommended by my girls, who begged to return again.

What, do you say, does this have to do with Real Estate?  Well, while I was there, I got to thinking about the whole Hands On concept.  For the children to experience anything, it is of great value to have a hands on experience.  In Real Estate, the same applies.  Heck, on HGTV, there is even a show where potential home buyers can spend the night in a house they are contemplating purchasing!  However, what about using a Realtor who has "hands on" experience?  As a buyer or seller, do you consider asking your agent how many times they have bought and sold a house? Have they moved across country with kids and dogs, relocating to a town in which they know no one?  I'm not saying that Realtors don't buy/sell homes and move.  But, sometimes, it's important to know the situation(s) which caused them to buy/sell a home.  Can they truly sympathize with the seller who is considering putting her toddlers outside with the dogs in the kennel so they don't mess up the clean house before a buyer comes?  Have they ever wondered why the professional mover's pack bottles of lotion in the same box as your clothes? Yep, you can visualize the mess!  Can your Realtor cry with you when you lose out on the house of your dreams? You get the idea!

Next time you need a Realtor, ask them if they have been to the Hands On Children's Museum www.hocm.org   As a Realtor who has gone through it all............I consider myself a "hands on" Realtor!

FYI: The most exciting thing about the museum.............we had no potty "accidents"!  Yippee
