Real Estate is going to the dogs in Lawrence, KS

white dog   Last year we had the opportunity to baby sit... or should I say doggie sit our neighbor's lhasa apso, named Enzo, while our neighbor was out of town.

My husband suggested to me that I was going to meet quite a few people walking such a spunky dog...

Not only was my husband right (how often can a woman say that!) but the first day I met a man who was moving to Australia and needed to sell his house ASAP...

But the story doesn't end there... his house was perfect for one of my buyers who ended up buying it the same day!

Real estate here in Lawrence is definitely going to the dogs!

We became so attached to Enzo over the few short days he lived with us that we decided to find a dog of our own...
A few months later we added a miniature apricot poodle to our family and go walking every day!

AWWWWW he is adorable, what is his name?

You are so right about the dog walking thing.  People don't look me in the eye or talk unless we are walking our adorable iggies.  They are such unusual looking creatures people always ask if it is a baby weimy, mini greyhound, whippet (never heard of or saw a whippet until I got my dog), baby lab, etc.  I then get to explain what breed he is and they are intrigued!  I must say he is one of the most social and the quickest dog at the doggie park and I call him the $30,000 dog.  Why?  Because that is how much business he has gotten me!

Tanya and Renee,

You two may have come up with one of the easiest, most enjoyable, successful methods of farming. I think I need a dog. I'm going to look into the Greyhound rescue program here. I saw one the other day and it looked sleek, elegant, and a definate conversation starter. Here's hoping your priceless pets become million dollar dogs! There's another blog in there somewhere, "How much have you made from your pet?"

I go into a trance every time I see a full sized greyhound!  They are so gorgeous and when they are at the doggie park they are only able to gallop because 1/3 of an acre isn't enough for them to go full speed!  Good for you to go to the rescue.  One of my Italian Greyhounds was bought from a reputable breeder and the other is a rescue.  If you don't want to go full size consider an Italian Greyhound from rescue!

I will have to find that other blog!

Thanks for the compliment Renee, An Italian Greyhound might be the way to go. Being 3/4 Italian, I should know that! We plan to move to a couple of acres sometime during the summer, so maybe a full sized and an Italian would be perfect. My wife and daughter would love Tanya's miniature poodle. Just look at it ! So many choices, all of them good. Thanks

Tanya - Using a dog as a tool to gain prospects works. I have 3 border collies and everyone that meets them absolutely loves them. They have allowed me to strike up conversations with people in the neighborhood that I normally wouldnt have met. I have also gained contacts and actually closed some loans by way of my boys. LOL

We get lots of dog walkers that come by our new house here in Lawrence.  There weren't hardly any where we lived in Eudora.  I have to admit though, on the few times when I took my son's dog for a walk, I didn't get too many people wanting to talk.

Is your miniature apricot poodle available for loan?

Hah!! I never knew you had such a sense of humor. I'm afraid we are dearly attached to our little baby. But there are people who only love the big dogs. You'd be surprised.
