Hi Friends.
Most of you probably already know the importance of getting links to your website and that this is a major factor to help position your website in google and other search engines. Many people know this, but surprisingly most people don't take advantage of their own blog in Active Rain. There is a section called "links" where you are able to add links to your own personal website or other resources you find important. To help you visualize exactly where I am writing about, click on the link "my blog". Once you click there on the right hand side below your picture where you have your description you will see the title "links" and it says add or remove links. Click where it says add link. From there you will be able to add a direct link to your website. I recommend that you link directly to your listings (landing page) because people are looking for real estate and that is what you provide. Active Rain allows you to decide what text you want to use for your link so instead of just having the link www.yourrealestateadvisor.net (I help realtors do online marketing in Spansish so the actual example I am using is www.SuAsesoraEnBienesRaices.com) you are able to choose the keywords that you want to use. For my client's website I chose "Casas en Gainseville". I chose these keywords because many consumers are searching in Google and Yahoo for that exact phrase. To illustrate my example, searching for "Casas en Gainesville" had 147,000 results in google.com. After a few weeks my client's website came up on the first page (in the 6th position). I am writing this not to tell you how cool I am, but how easy this is for you to do. Let's take advantage of these FREE tools and drive our website up in the search engines. Active Rain has a solid page rank and this will really helps us improve our results in google.
The example I mentioned above had great results in a short period of time. I would recommend choosing a key phrase that is not the most competitive because if you chose the link text "homes in San Francisco" you are going up against large companies with huge online marketing budgets. I would focus more on the long tail (single family homes in south San Francisco). Yes, there is probably less search volume, but your chances to be at the top of google are greatly increased.
An extra tip.....if you work or would like to work with the Latino community, here is a free resource to check out http://www.vivareal.us/.

Thanks for the advice. I just added about 15 links to my blog, so we'll see what happens.
Watch out Google, here I come!
