Locals know when it's almost time for spring break on Panama City Beach........ that's when Captain Anderson's Restaurant re-opens from a short winter holiday.  They open the big front doors just in time for our winter guests to enjoy the delicious fare of this highly acclaimed restaurant and right on time for the spring break rush.

Captain Anderson's Restaurant opened for their 42nd Anniversary in January, 2009. Since 1967, Capt. Anderson's has created many Gulf Coast classic dishes and has won the loyalty of millions of customers, who they treat like family and consider to be friends.

For many families who come to the beach every year for spring break, it is a tradition to "dine early at Capt. Anderson's, and watch the fishing fleets unload their catch."

This waterfront restaurant has grown to 660 seats serving over 250,000 guests during its 8 month season six nights each week. Founders, Jimmy and Johnny Patronis have passed the family valuesof high standards, hard work and consistency on to the younger Patronis generations, and the family still works at the busy restaurant.

Named among America's Top 50 restaurants, recipient of the "Best Seafood Restaurant" award from Southern Living and Wine Spectator's "Award of Excellence," Capt. Anderson's won Florida Trend's Golden Spoon Award for 15 years before being inducted into the Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2005. The Hall of Fame is the highest honor Florida Trend can bestow upon a Florida restaurant.

The Patronis family works with fishermen, oystermen and others who make their living harvesting the Gulf and Bays to preserve the natural oyster beds of Apalachicola Bay by building artificial reefs to protect the fragile coastal ecology.  Their dedication to the seafood industry is one of the most important reasons Capt. Anderson's is known for serving more fresh local seafood than many other restaurants in Florida.

The Patronis family and restaurant staff have truly enjoyed serving the locals and seasonal visitors over the years, and many of their dishes have become popular favorites.  Click here to view the Dinner Menu

The fifth edition of the Captain Anderson's Cookbook, "Captain's Classics," is now available. When you dine at the restaurant, you can ask your server about it or visit the Waterfront Market

Gift cards are now available online - perfect gift for family and friends!

Hi, Linda,

When are you coming to the beach?  I know everyone from Georgia vacations at Panama City Beach!!  Let me know when and we'll go do the dinner cruise .... maybe we should invite all our AR friends down for a dinner cruise... what do you think?

Oh gosh I have no idea.  Things got a little mucked up here and I am trying to find my way out of it.  However, a AR dinner cruise sounds like a lot of fun.  We need to work on that one.

This must be the mecca of all delights culled from the ocean deep. Nothing like a four star seafood eatery. I need to bring my personalized lobster bib.

Hi Jan:   The grandkids love Captain Anderson's and most of the time you can't get in that place.   I'm ready for a dinner cruise... let me know ahead of time if one's planned so I can go to the tanning bed.  I'll need about two weeks notice because I'm a "Snowbird" right now.   I'll Bring My Own Bib for the lobster.

Of course I remember Feud Cake!  They are famous for it ... I just sent an email to you.  My C 21 broker, Katie Patronis,  is married to one of the Patronis family sons... Jimmy Patronis.  He's our new FL State Representative, so he's no longer working his shift at the restaurant, but I think we can get a table.... bring your lobster bib and come on down!

Andrew:

This is your personal invitation to bring your family for dinner at the restaurant.  Bring your lobster bib, too!  You will love the Southern hospitality!  We need to have an AR spring break with our blog friends.

I think you should be our social chairman in charge of planning the official AR Spring Break on PCB.  Of course the dinner cruise and Capt Andersons will be part of the event plans.  We need to find a date that will work for everyone! I'm hoping Missy C will pencil us into her agenda... from Michigan... and Andrew from NJ.  We'll invite our friends who comment here... how about that ... so far that includes Linda from GA, too!!  We would have a lot of fun... who said you have to go all the way to Hawaii to have a good time!

Jan - Thanks for the mouthwatering post.  Unfortunately we're headed in a different direction for Spring Break this year, but I'll definitely keep PCB and Captain Anderson's in mind for future dining delight.  Thanks.

Vanessa,

You all are welcome here anytime.  Maybe we should have a contest... see how many Rainers we can get to PC Beach at the same time.  You and Melissa are good with these contests... would that fall under Realtor Life - isn't that the name of one of your groups?

Jan E:  So I've been appointed Social Chairman!  O.K.  So that I know my duties as Social Chairman, do you want me to create a blog and invite the entire country, or just the select few on the Captain Anderson society page?  I want my duties defined and in writing.  I'm up for it girl; just need a direction.

Hey, Jan W:

You are in charge!  I know the world might be a big order here, but they do say the world will beat a path to your door...... so ... You decide how/who you want .... Any suggestions for a date that might work for everyone?  After Easter... first of April, maybe?  Also, read some of the comments on the other "seafood" post I wrote right after this one.  Lots of cold wet Rainers might enjoy a FL vacation.

Dear Anonymous Commenter #20:

I would love to post the "feud cake" recipe for you, however, I think it's still a Patronis family secret recipe!  However, I will post the link to the Captian Anderson's Restaurant website for you where you can then sign up for free recipes by email.  You can also read about the restaurant, numerous awards they have won, and get information about the Waterfront Market.  Click on this link for CAPT ANDERSON'S RESTAURANT!

Jan, can you believe I am still following this post? Ok I have the receipe somewhere. I know they had it in a cook book too, so not really private. I"ll dig through recipies and find it. Never made it but did write it down.

Are you in PC or TN ?

Hi, Missy,

I LOVE IT that you are still following this post!  I remember that you love PC Beach.  I thought I might ask permission to post the recipe ... I also have "the cookbook" ... which is the one they sell on their website.

I also thought I might need to do a little more research... perhaps go to dinner at Capt Anderson's ... after having a delightful dinner ... maybe stuffed shrimp, maybe Scamp Imperial, maybe a fabulous Greek salad... anyway, afterwards I would feel obligated to have a piece of Feud Cake with a nice cup of coffee... maybe take a few photos or even a quick video.... then post those with the recipe.

Want to join me for dinner sometime? :)

Amy,

I hope you will come back to this blog post since I don't have an email address for you to give you this link to CAPT ANDERSON'S website.  If you click on the link it will take you to their main website where you can order the cookbook and you can sign up for free recipes.  I think the cookbook would make a great birthday gift for your mom!  And next time y'all come to the beach, please make sure she gets to have dinner at Capt. Anderson's Restaurant!  Best wishes for a very happy birthday for your mom!  One thing is for sure, she has a sweet daughter!

Thanks for your help and have a great day!
