Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but forgetting to erase the author's name is just not smart. However, it is humorous.

Jeff,
we should all give credit where credit is due, especially for someone who is as creative as you. AJ

AJ... well, in this case it's just boilerplate license agreement. So there's not much creative there. :)

Ha ha. It looks like they got most of them changed. Did you tell them? I can't imagine how you came across that. Do you always read license agreements for fun?

Karen... Yes, it's a hobby of mine. :) No, this was sent by a Canadian client who found the page in a search for real estate shows. :)

That's funny!  You would have thought that a little more thoroughness would have caught that!  LOL  Oh well, maintain a sense of humor and consider it free advertising.

Carol, Jason, Ginger, Mike... what's funny is how long it's probably been there. He set up a trial Real Estate Shows account six months before he registered his current domain name. So, for all I know, it's been like this since June of 2006. :)

Jeff,

That is too funny.  What kind of rank amateurs would do something so stupid?  Heck, if their a) plagerizing and then b) missing a small detail like the author's name and a reference back to the real author...then waht kind of business do they run?

Thanks for pointing it out in a gentlemanly way.  Getting it out in the Blogoshpere is much more effective (and cheaper) than suing the turkeys.

Dang, trying to pull something like that on someone like you?  I had an agent copy/paste one of my websites, deny it and i had to point out that MY NAME was on his home page.  idiot.

And, I guess he played dumb when you called him on it? BTW, I've never taken the time to tell you I love your use of video. Do you use Camtasia for screen capture, SnagIt, or something else?

I guess if I'm too lazy to write my own why preview it let the author do all the work. Too sad.

Jeff,

Good thing they probably don't know more than cut and paste, like say, nuclear physics?

Jeff, Very funny... You have a good sense of humor, I know because it's not that funny when it happens to you. I had an agent copy and paste an entire blog I wrote as an answer to a question on Trulia Voices.

Jeff - I guess they thought they could save themselves an attorney fee to draft up the terms of use agreement by using yours, but you have to wonder how well it applies to their situation in their state.  Are the terms enforceable?  If there's one place not to skimp, it's on legal protection.

We had a company once copy our web site and not even bother to change our name in the text of it!  The lengths that some people will go to in order to avoid doing their own work.  Remember, treble damages for willful infringement of copyrighted works.
