Sometimes work is just work. There is no way around it.
On a cold cloudy day in February, a commercial fishermen is out working in spite of the elements.
In a tough real estate market, it can feel like the clouds have settled in permanently.
January and February of this year have been very challenging. I am working with more clients than ever before, but they all seem to be waiting for magical signal before they actually buy something.
As I see the tiny green sprigs of grass coming up, I know things will get better. I recently had a client try hard to buy a property. I am confident I will find him the right spot.
I had more clients down last weekend. Their search for the right spot is very close to being over.
Another client is here in town this weekend driving by properties that I have sent him.
A fourth client is scheduled to come and see a lot that I found them. They will be here in March. And I have a number of long term prospects so things could be much worse.
While the market has been slow, I have taken advantage of the extra time to try to publicize my expertise on this little corner of the North Carolina coast. Besides that website, I have used my Carteret County Blog, my ActiveRain blog and other sites.
One service which I had fun with was City-Data forum. I have finally had to give up after much effort trying to figure out how to work within their guidelines.
With it raining yesterday morning and my banishment from City-Data, I was a little depressed while doing desk duty. Still I was determined to not let it get me down.
We had a very interesting house get listed recently. The center part is a hexagon. There are some rectangle wings with a triangles on the ends. It was a challenge for a very experience Realtor® to measure so our Broker in Charge though it might be fun to see how close a few of us newer agents could get to his total for heated area.
It turned out to an interesting diversion. I even found Heron's formula for the area of a triangle and a very cool web page that lets you manipulate triangles and see their areas. You need JAVA installed to see the triangle.
Just having some fun solving a problem made me feel better. Then this morning I was using Google reader and noticed that my friend Stephen had shared this story, Advice for real estate agents (quit now!).
On reading the article, I immediately decided to create my own Squidoo page about Coastal NC.
It was probably the easiest and fastest way that I have seen to create a very interactive page about a local area.
I highly recommend it. Getting that page up, a little sunshine, and a math problem managed to get me focused back on my work.
My Squidoo page makes a nice companion for the custom interactive map of services in the Cape Carteret area that I did recently.
It just shows that if you keep going forward and looking in that direction, things always look a lot better.
