Ricki Eichler & I met here on Active Rain back in November when she joined and I was one of the first members to welcome her.  There was an immediate connection - of course, we're both in Texas and both with Coldwell Banker franchises but there was more to it.

We've been scheduling lunches since November and life and business kept getting in the way.  But, yesterday, we were finally able to work both schedules so that we could meet in Bandera, TX (with a little tweaking of schedules throughout the morning).  What was supposed to be a 12:00 o'clock lunch turned into a 1:00 o'clock lunch.

Ricki arrived a few minutes before I did and was waiting in the parking lot - directing me into town and to the parking lot.  Big hugs in the parking lot and non-stop talking for the next 5 hours!

Just as we were seated in a comfortable booth and trying to stop talking long enough to order lunch, my cell phone was ringing.  I checked the number and was not familiar with the area code so decided I had better answer.  OMG!!!  It was Lenn Harley  calling from Virginia!  What perfect timing - a true AR Gathering with Lenn, Ricki and me.  Lenn & I chatted a few minutes and I handed the phone over to Ricki so she could speak with Lenn too.  Lenn had no idea what she had stepped into!

We finally ordered our lunches and the time just flew!  We had lots to talk about and plans to work out.  Just as we were finishing lunch, Cheri Lynn arrived and we visited for awhile, then decided we had things to do so we better get out of there!  OH WAIT!!  We had to take pictures in the restaurant - K's Seafood.  We took lots of pictures - hmmm, I think there were other people in the restaurant but none of us really noticed we were having way too much fun.

Ricki & Cheri Lynn have the Pomarosa RV Park in Bandera, TX listed for sale and we needed to go put the sign up.  Well, I just want to say it was hilarious!  The battery for the drill had very little charge left.  We managed to get the sign secure but just barely.  Then Ricki says, "I know where we can get another drill".  And we headed to another one of her listings to "borrow" a drill.  That's where the story ends...I'm pleading the 5th!!!  I will say that the sign is now very secure!

Cheri Lynn had other errands to run so Ricki & I headed to the Flying L Ranch.  It is sooo beautiful out there!  We were driving along the road in the Flying L Ranch and we noticed 2 adult antelope - as we got closer to them - suddenly the rest of the herd popped up out of the tall grasses and there must have been 20 or 30 of them.  Running (hopping) thru the grasses, bushes and trees to take cover!!  They ran so fast we couldn't get a picture of the entire herd!  While we were at the Flying L Ranch, Ricki gave me a tour of another one of her listings - it's a beautiful home on the creek with a huge patio overlooking it - absolutely breathtaking.

From there she gave me a quick tour of downtown Bandera, TX.  I had only been there once before and that visit was a very brief business trip.  So, I really enjoyed getting the driving tour of the downtown area.

We certainly enjoyed the day and will be planning future AR Gatherings.  We hope to persuade some other AR Members to join us - we promise you that it'll be a fun, memorable experience!!!

Here's a link to Ricki Eichler's post about our afternoon -  "Another great afternoon, aother great AR gathering".

Debbie, thanks for stopping by.  Bandera is only about 30 or so miles from my house and about 20 or so miles from Kerville (where Ricki lives) so it was the logical place to meet!  We did have wayyy too much fun!!!

02/23/2008 09:32 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Judi, You've out done yourself!   Wow!  That's a great post and the links are awesome.  I'll put some on mine tomorrow.   I love what Debbie said "We've got our stories straight!"   He HE he :)

Ricki,  you were up late playing working on your blogging here.  :)    Glad you like the post -- hmmm, Cheri Lynn should write her version of our afternoon.

OMG Judi - Sounds like it was a great first  Active Rain meeting between you ,Ricki and Cheri Lynn.

When I was between inspections I thought about you three ladies and if you were able to pull off the first AR Meeting in the Texas Hill Country.  Don't ever think the top three ladies on Active Rain will not do what they start out to accomplish. Maybe you should get into politics; at least we know you will do what you say you will do.

The  'first big meeting in Bandera did take place with lunch, work and fun amongst the Top AR's in the Texas Hill Country. Can hardly wait for the second episode plans.

I bet you made a good first impression with the people at K's Seafood Restaurant. Did you have Texas Pecan Pie and Texas Blue Bell Ice Cream for dessert?

Thanks for the photo's.

Carl & Ceil,  glad y'all stopped by.  Friday morning we had to adjust our time to meet twice!!!  First Ricki called to say she needed to postpone for 30 mins.  Then, just as I was getting ready to leave for Bandera I rec'd a call from a referral client so I was about 20 minutes late leaving.  I called Ricki from the car and told her that I was late leaving and I'd be there.  When I got close to town I called her to let her know I was almost there and we talked as I drove into town and into the parking lot.

Sounds like a great time, although it would have been fun to read the "real" story!! It hurts me to look at these photos that have everyone not wearing coats!! No wonder you guys are always smiling:)

02/24/2008 12:33 PM by Karen Hurst ~ Real Estate Broker ~ Warwick ~ Rhode Island (Storm Realty LLC)

Karen,  We did have a great time and looking forward to more!  The "real" story?  That is the REAL story!  Coats???   Hmmm, I remember wearing them when I lived up north -- but here I can usually get away with wearing a leather jacket.  I do have a couple of coats for the 4 or 5 really cold days (in the 20's or 30's) we have here and for when I go visit up north!  We have lots of sunshine here (that's why we're always smiling and happy).  Did you notice that beautiful blue sky in the picture of Ricki & Cheri Lynn?  I started to "crop" it but decided we needed to share those beautiful blue skies with our friends on Active Rain!!!   hehehehe

Judi, The two of you look like you were having an absolute blast :)  How wonderful to meet people from AR, you "know" them before you even meet them!

Judi- I had to come and check on your lastest post and WOW, I bet you did enjoy yourself!!  Maybe one of these days we will get to meet, either I will come to Texas or you come back to Rome,  take care and thanks for sharing!

02/24/2008 10:05 PM by Darlene Wurth/ REALTOR/REOS- Exit Realty Showcase (Exit Realty Showcase)

Darlene, thanks for stopping by.  I hope we'll get to meet one of these days.  You never know, we may find a way to get to Georgia for a visit.  Don has a son in Florida and I have family in Georgia and North Carolina.  We may take a driving vacation and visit everyone -- if he can get me to sit in the car long enough.  :)

02/24/2008 10:12 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Hello, Judi!

I'm a little delayed commenting here--since it's still very cold here, (it snowed again two nights ago) I tend to move slower.  :)  Sounds like a great time was had by all!  I would love to know the rest of the story.  LOL

02/24/2008 11:08 PM by Yolanda Hoversten - Metro East IL Real Estate (Prudential One Realty Centre)

LOL, Yolanda, glad you stopped by.  Did you notice the beautiful day we had on Friday -- also Sat. & Sun.  I believe we have a "cold front" coming in Tuesday and rain's being predicted for the weekend.

We really did have a wonderful afternoon.  Lots of talking and laughing.  The rest of the story . . . I have NO idea what you're talking about!

Hey Judi - Any plans for fun and games this Friday. Thought maybe you and Ricki and Cheri Lynn would be luncheon out again and looking for some mischief to get into. Maybe you could knock doors to see if someone would like to sell their home.

A short  story. That is how we purchased two of our homes. Ceil noticed the home looked unkept and she knocked on the door, introduced herself and said she was looking to buy in the neighborhood and if they ever planned on moving to please take her name and telephone number and to call her. That's right, the first house was in S.A. and they called within a week; they were military and were being transferred. The house that we live in now she did the same thing but it took them about 6 weeks and they called. What a gal. We did not use a realtor, sorry Judi but 40 years ago you could do that.

02/27/2008 06:37 PM by Carl & Ceil Winters (Complete Inspection Service, New Braunfels, Texas 78133)

Carl,

No, Cheri Lynn, Ricki & I don't have plans for this Friday.  But we have plans for another AR Gathering in the near future.  This Friday, I'll be working -- I have phone duty.  Have showings scheduled for Sat., an Open House on Sun., and an appointment with a client after the open house.  It'll be a busy weekend.

Well, now, Carl you know you have a very special lady don't you.  You could do that 40 years ago -- in some places you probably still do iit.  :)

Hey Dale, Ricki & I had a blast!!  We talked and laughed for 5 hours.  We never ran out of stuff to talk about and of course, the tour of her listings, the countryside and Bandera was beautiful.  I can't wait to go back up to Bandera.  There are some nice shops calling my name!!!   In fact, I'm planning to be up there on April 12th -- hope I have time to check out all the antique shops.  :)

02/29/2008 10:31 PM by Judi Morgan, San Antonio, TX Real Estate (Coldwell Banker D'Ann Harper, Realtors)

Judi - Oh my...  It sounds like y'all had the time of your lives for that lunch date!  What could you possibly be needing to plead the 5th about?!

I'm imagining seeing all those antelope and thinking about how awesome that must have been.

Jackie,   Thanks for stopping by.  We did have a good time and we're looking forward to more.  HAHA -- pleading the 5th on pleading the 5th!  haha    The antelope were beautiful -- we saw just 2 and Ricki slowed down and suddenly the rest of the herd stood up and started running.  It was an amazing sight and they were too fast to get pictures of them.  I'm looking forward to going up to Bandera again -- only 30 or so minutes away!
