My mind is made up. It has been for quite a while. But nonetheless I tuned into CNN tonight to watch the Democratic hopefuls square off as a prelude to the very important primaries next week in Texas and Ohio.

At the end of the night I don't know that either of the candidates won. But by the same token did neither lose.

Who is the goat? And what I witnessed made me realize that either of these two candidates will more than capably shoulder the burden of leadership upon the blessed end of George II.

So we move forward toward next Tuesday to see if Barack continues his streak of 10 consecutive victories in the Lone Star and Buckeye states. Texas, it appears, is a statistical tie. This after Hillary had led by double digits until as recently as a week ago.

Ohio, at least at this point, is more solidly in Hillary's corner. But given the manner that more time typically equates to more votes for Barack the next week could see her single digit lead dissipate.

And what does this mean precisely?

Sitting on the stoop is the gargoyle77% of surveyed Americans think that George Bush is leading the country down the wrong path. And not to unnecessarily deprecate these Democratic candidates but it seems that anybody but George is the predominant national sentiment.

Certainly this is understandable given the damaged state of the economy, the mortgage crisis, ever-increasing national debt, the situation in Iraq, and the ongoing pain experienced by common Americans as they struggle to keep their jobs and pay for their homes, their cars, their health, and their kids.

Which brings us back to square one - there's lots of inventory in the Chicago real estate market. And while there are buyers out there they are unified by unease and nervousness. On the one hand they don't want to overpay for a house. And on the other hand they don't want to be caught in a situation where they can't make future payments.

The safety of the child is paramountBoth fears are rooted in a queasiness related to the nation's economy, an economy that today is weighed down by a $9.3 TRILLION deficit. In layman's terms, this disturbing amount is the equivalent of $79,000 to every US taxpayer.

Is it getting warm in here or is it just me?

So before us is a sizable challenge but I have no doubt that we will prevail with a bit of resolve a dose of compassion and no small part of common sense. Thursday night in Austin was a step in the right direction.
