University of North Carolina Hospital in Chapel Hill

It's hard to miss the signs for UNC Hospital, whether driving north on 15/501 from Chatham County, or west on 40 from Durham.   This is a big, reputable hospital - and it's getting bigger as we speak, as the new North Carolina Cancer Hospital is slated to open in 2009.   It's located in the center of Chapel Hill, on the south end of the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill campus.

This "hospital" actually consists of a multitude of buildings and hospitals, each with different functions, including:

The UNC Family Practice Center is very close, at the corner of Manning Drive and US 15-501.

With all of these many specialities and focuses, the campus is pretty big.  If you've got an emergency, don't worry, there's plenty of signs leading straight to the ER.

But if you're new to the area and going to a first appointment, you may want to print off a site map of the campus.  Especially with the construction on the Cancer Center, the access roads and parking areas within the hospital can be a bit confusing.   Feel free to zoom in or out of the map here to find your way to the UNC Hospital campus - getting to the hospital itself isn't hard.

Deb - One of the great things about the Triangle is the abundance of excellent medical care, no matter what area you're in.

Eleanor - Fortunately I haven't had to visit the children's hospital, but the list of specialties is impressive, as are the testimonials.
