Recycle your Electric Appliances and Computers

We need more places like this!  I was at the Annual Santa Rosa Chamber (CA) meeting the other day and picked up a flyer on a Santa Rosa company called The Computer Recycling Center.  You can donate your old computer equipment and more.  They also take electric appliances ("everything with a battery or a plug except large appliances").

They have a drop off location in Santa Rosa at 3227 Santa Rosa Avenue, 95407.  They will also pick up larger donations.  If you have large quantities to drop off or something unusual that you are not sure they will take in, give them a call at 707.570.1600 or 1-888-8usedpc or check out their website at http://www.crc.org/.   They also have locations in Sunnyvale and San Francisco.

There's a great marketing opportunity here.  Get to know your neighbors by organizing a community recycling day.

I use to use recycled appliances in my rental properties. When I would have a stove or refrigerator go bad, I would only purchase a used one to replace it. No reason to spend the extra money on anew one when it is for a rental property. I would usually give the broken appliance to the place which I purchased the used appliance so that they could either repair and resell it or scavenge off the useable parts to repair another appliance.

PG&E has a rebate for recylcing refrigerators.  There are probably rebates available in your area too.

Ross Quintana - Spokane Real Estate Expert Hey Cindy, Yes they melt the mother boards and actually make gold bars from the circuit boards, I saw a show on it. I can't remember how many computers it takes but each old computer has about $3 worth of gold in it.

I am looking to exchange links with some agents also so if you would like to share visit my link exchange page. Thanks

I wonder what they do with the rest of the scrap?  I think I'll give them a call and find out.
