Will Cuba Turn to Democracy After 49 Years of Fidel Castro?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Cuba is the last communist country in the Western Hemisphere.

After 49 years of leadership under Fidel Castro, he has given his power to his brother.  Some hints have been made that Cuba may change their political views.  Since Cuba is an island not far away from the U.S., it would be great if they turned into a country of freedom.  It would help the citizens of Cuba and help their economy.

So we will just have to watch and see.

Very seldom do dictators give up power to another.

I thought that Fidel was the "Good" brother.  Cuba may have just become unstable.

Castors brother is alot worse than Fidel and he is in power now. The achievement of Democracy is still decades away in Cuba.

Why I rarely respond to political post I guess we wil have to see what the "did" does. To me this was the biggest non-news announcement of the week.

Need to see what happens when all of the family members are gone.

Happy Selling!

Kay, I have seen forecasts that in our lifetime Cuba will again be a democracy and may even be our 51st state. Who knows? But change is always in the wind.

I believe it would be great if Cuba became a free country, but I'm just not sure it will turn out that way.

Hi everyone who responded.  It WILL take years for Cuba to really change a lot.  But maybe they will have some minor changes that may make a small difference in their lives.

Kay

I doubt things will change until his brother is gone... then maybe.
