Thats right we need dirt.  Seems the U.S. Corps of Engineers can't get enough of the right stuff (dirt), to build up the levees around New Orleans.  They estimate they need enough to fill at least twenty superdomes.  They have identified twenty one sites and need more.  Plenty of private landowners don't want to sell dirt to them.  I guess they leave a big hole in the middle of your yard.  I sure hope someone helps them with this before the next big one.

There is a lot of government land out there, you would think they could find it somewhere. I think we are talking about red tape! Sounds right! Any way good luck and thanks for the post

It's odd - I have to post free ads on craigslist to get rid of excess dirt from my yard when we did foundation work...

It is not that strange that you don't have enough dirt. When your city is below sea level, you have to import it!

Is it actually safe there?  I can't feel safe until they truly institute a good fix.  The last was not enough

John, the Corp took over the spill way last year. Since then we can not fine or buy the spring fill that we normally use. The price for a load of dirt has gone from 50 per load to over 200. Thanks again to the Corp.
