I was speaking with a coaching client theother day and when I mentioned to them that they need to implement what they have learned...they said..."I know....thanks"

Here was my reply:  Speaker and coach Richard Flint says...learning is understanding what you already know, doing demonstrates that you know it.  So, to be honest, as I have said comprehension should not be confused with implementation.  If you in fact "know" and still choose not to do....there is a question to be answered...and that question is WHY?

This business has too many challneges to leep having reasons instead of results....and you are too smart to keep saying so
."

She understood....and I thought...iwonder how many other people have thought like she has, but havenot had anyone tell them the limitiations of such thought..?  How many people are told, but just don't listen?

Real estate is not a vocation (nor a vacation), or for that matter, even a career per se.  It is an opportunity for freedom, control, service to others, growth etc. But in that opportunity, comes danger. Such danger is prevelant when we say we know what we are doing, when in fact, we are not doing it.

Life rewards action...reasons don't bring results and effort will always conquer the excuses....I hope she does what she knows....and I know, we will know soon enough.

I understand your point completely but as I am only in my fourth year in real estate, it took me until now to really figure out what my specialty might be - investors.  So the targeting begins in earnest rather than shots in the dark as I have previously been doing.  Maybe your client is having similar issues.

Interesting that you would say that real estate is not a vocation. There are differing opinions.

Speaking from my own experiences with coaching and being fairly new in real estate, I would say that maybe your client (if she is new) has a lot to take in and knows what she needs to do but when it comes down to being in say a "negotiating situation" (without much experience) may tend to forget to put into practice what she knows she needs to do (not necessarily choosing NOT TO DO) when she is trying to concentrate on everything else that goes along with whatever it is she is doing! (wow! that's a run-on sentence if I ever saw one)....My suggestion: Role play, Role play, Role play! 'till it's sooo comfortable that implementation just becomes natural!

Sarah...I agree there is so much to take in.  This client generally knows what she has to do, but specifically has had trouble doing it.

I don't see this as rare, but common in the field..Wehere..back to basics right now....though it begs the question...if agents are not succeeding....what were they doing that the basics will help them all of a sudden.

Easy....hard..a lot, or just a little, action is important.  Not any action of course, but action all the same.

I once heard...when you are 80% prepared...GO....the other 20% you are supposed to figure out as you do it....

Hey...80/20 rule????
