OK I know this may be an outdated blog due to the fact that in the length of time it takes me to write this, technology will have run me over. The new models of  FILL IN THE BLANK arrive in the store about 15 minutes after I leave with whatever model I have purchased which now renders it nearly obsolete.

That said however, I am still a fan of the PDA. I can't lug around a computer with me all the time and I need a calendar, contact list, as well as other programs to help me keep my like on track. So I have used Palm since they first arrived. I have gone through several models and experienced my fair share of problems and disappointments but overall, especially when compared to other models I have tried, I have been most happy with my Palm TX.

Not only does it allow me to have my calendar readily at hand plus a dozen other applications but its contact files allow me to upload a photo of all of my Realtor contacts. So now when I look them up I have a nice photo to remind me who they are.

Additionally, it has a neat media function that allows me to create a slide show of  my work. I can now easily and quickly do 5 minute presentation complete with visuals without having to carry around 20 pounds of equipment. I find that this is just right when presenting to one Realtor.

At $250-299 it can't be beat. And it accepts 2G memory disk for virtually unlimited storage.

HI James,

Do you present on your PDA or just hook it up to the realtors computer?

I use for those "mini" presentations on the run. It has a fairly large screen that can be viewed fairly easily bu one person but no, I do not hook it to any Realtors computer. If I were planning that I would make a CD PowerPoint presentation. If presenting to a larger group I use my own computer with an external portable projector.

James -

As a non- techno girl (to the amazement of my father - Mr. techno) the only PDA's I have ever utilized are Public Displays of Affection. ;)  I still wonder why a cell phone needs to do more than send and receive... One day I will catch up!

I'm glad you posted this James bcos I am just now starting to investigate using a PDA.  I went to buy one but the sales guy talked me out of it and told me to check out the phone PDA's/Blackberrys.....

Teresa,

One problem with the combination PDA/Phone is that if you are talking on the phone you usually can't use the PDA plus if you phone goes dead you have lost your access to your schedule etc. I use two separate devices- the others sound better than they are in practice.

hey

this is a great idea! i never thought about it using it this way. i do remember reading about artists using photo ipod to present their profolio. i also love using pda to screen my emails. but the bad thing is i never physically check emails on computers anymore and they have been piling up! i probably won't be able to use my blackberry pearl since the screen is too small, but i might try it on ipod.

;0)

cheers,

cindy

Additional note: I just used my Palm TX for a digital slide show at a networking luncheon. I had my normal portfolio, printed material,  and cards but the TX, set on auto slide show, provided the additional visual attraction that set my display apart from everyone else. I did not want to lug a computer to this event and so the small TX provided just what I needed- a slide show on the go!

Hey James,
I just purchased a Palm TX TODAY....hooray! I am hoping this will finally keep me organized. I decided to take your advice and just get the Palm instead of a Blackberry. I really didn't want or need the extra expense involved with a blackberry.  I'm so new to this that I didn't even realize I could check my email or go on the 'net if I can pick up a wireless signal.  I'm most looking foward to having the slideshow ability.  Is there a way to hook your palm up to a computer/overhead at a realtors office and use during a presentation instead of bringing a DVD or your laptop?  Thanks for the help!

James -- Thanks for telling us about the Palm TX.  I have always been fascinated by PDA's but couldn't figure out how I would get my money's worth out of it as far as useage goes....now I know....thanks!  I am off in search of the best deal!

You can hook up the TX to a computer but I believe that it would not do you any good unless the Realtor had the correct Palm software. If I were doing presentations to individual Realtors I would just stick with the TX or create a CD to play on their computer if I wanted the large viewing screen. For larger presentations a computer and projector are essential.
