One of the scenic areas of PEI is Panmure Island. It is located on the eastern side just a short drive from the beautiful town of Montague, and Murray River. Panmure Island is not an island but actually a Peninsula because of the picturesque Causeway that joins it to the mainland of Prince Edward Island. Panmure Island Road goes through Panmure Island and branches to many other side roads on the north and south side. Cardigan Bay is the body of water on the north side of Panmure Island, PEI and on the south side is the beautiful St Mary's Bay. On the east side of the Panmure Island causeway is the Northumberland Strait (Ocean). Going across the causeway, on the right, is a gorgeous white sand ocean beach that is very busy in the PEI Tourist season, it has a nice parking lot for visitors and locals to use white they are swimming on the ocean beach or just enjoying the fabulous scenery. The Prince Edward Island government owns a 100 acre Provincial Park here at Panmure Island, and, in it, are camp grounds that serve the many visitors to the region. All along St Mary's Bay and on the periphery of Panmure Island are lovely Cottages that are brought alive in the summer tourist season. Also nearby, is the famous landmark of the Panmure Island Lighthouse that tops off the scenery.
