Companies that sell home buyer and seller leads

I can't tell you how many times I get call from companies who tell me that they want me to be the "Exclusive Agent" for my area in a particular zip code.  I always dismiss them in a nice way because what they say is just too good to be true.  Is there ANYONE who has had success with any of these companies?

I really only had one experience with a lead selling company and I cut it very short based on the quality of the leads.

You can have success with these companies if you do things the way they mean for you to do them. You can ask the companies to give you a full training in their methods. Basically it means actually calling the leads and following up, it's not a matter of "send them a listing and they will make a purchase".

You can be successful without paying lots of money to these companies, though. You talked in your other blog about your referral clients. Market to your current clients first, get them to 1) stay with you, and 2) tell their friends about you and you will be successful.

We have not had any success with these types of companies.  Our philosophy is that if they call us, and have this great pitch,  they're just in sales like we are.  So we are polite, but refuse the service.  If we want to use their service, then we'll contact them.

I am actually in the business of selling leads and we truly only sell to one person in the industry. I sell the leads to all sorts of people but never in the same business. I can sell the same lead to a moving company, realator, mortgage broker, home inspector, landscaper, carpet cleaner, and pretty much any other company that has to do with the housing market. As long as I dont double up in the market I am being very fair.
