Take a break (February)

In addition to the political dog and pony shows which seem to occupy much of our time, there was the Annual Westminister Kennel Club show at Madison Square Gardens at which a beagle hound called Uno won best in show honors for this year – frequently reported under the headline “The Beagle has Landed”.

The following video features Carolyn Scott with her dancing with the stars companion, golden retriever “Rookie” performing at the Canine Musical Freestyle competition. This video has been viewed by 3.5 million people, according to You-Tube.com statistics. If you are not one who has watched it – you should be - it is worth the time. The music is from “Grease”.

Maybe the idea that the country is going to the dogs is not so bad.

Enjoy

Ted: You are now touching on my soft spot. If the world were filled with dog lovers, this would be a far better place to live. Thanks for the show, it was grand.

I don't know the answer to that.  My introduction to the clip was on You-Tube.com. I assumed it was a separate event from the Westminister Kennel Club event - but I do not know.

I enjoyed the clip - particularly since both dog and trainer appear to be having a good time.  The backward and sideways steps would not appear to me to be natural for the dog so I am impressed with the training.

I am reminded of the quote "Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astair did - and did it backwards and in high heels"

Hi Ted,  I loved this clip - boy are they having a good time or what??  And I'm thrilled that Uno the Beagle came in best in show.  I'm a crazy beagle lover (but my husband will only let me have two).  It's about time beagles received their due - they are WONDERFUL animals.  Thanks for the clip!
