15 Comments on Download, Install and Use An UNZIP Program
I am using 2.3.2
Under my plugins tab I have an Install Plugin Tab. Once I have downloaded the plugin I locate the file in my computer and then it uploads it, unzips and activates with one click of a button.
This credit is at the bottom of the installer page:
Installer k_INSTALLER_VER by Matt Read. Thanks to Ashex, ringmaster, and anyone else I missed.
Do you have that tab?
Now wondering if that was a plugin. If it is it is a nifty one.
Cheryl and Maureen, when I look at the plug in section, I don't see any button for "installing a plug in." I have the org version. Any ideas where to look?
Teri -- I'm .org, I'm pretty sure Maureen is, too.
Maureen: No I don't have that tab, so, I bet you have a plugin to install plugins. :-). Oh please look at your Plugin Management list, and find its name, so I can go get it, too.
Allows you to install and manage plugins/themes from a webform. By Matt Read.
But that link does not take me back to the plugin for some reason so you are going to have to do some digging to find out where it is now.... Hope that helps. It is a handy little bugger. I wish there were a "remover" that did the reverse process. I have some clutter I need to clean out in the unused plugin department.
Maureen: This isn't the Matt Read plugin, but it looks similiar http://anirudhsanjeev.org/oneclick-plugin/
Of course, one needs to first download and install it the old school way.... here's the author's quote "Download, unzip, upload via ftp (doing so for the last time in your life)"
I think I'll give it a spin.
That is funny. Let me know how it works for you. I am thinking that Matt Read is no longer supporting his plugin so I might be switching over some day too.
I'm waiting to see how it works Cheryl. I don't have that button to upload so am wanting to find a plug in that installs one.........
I need a new unzip program the current trial on one I was using expired and now they hound me to buy the program. I'll try this instead. Thanks ~Rita
