Do you find that you go beyond the Call of Duty for your clients - or are you just average - and do "just enough" to get by to get your clients to the closing table?

I would venture to say that most Buyers and Sellers are seeking a REALTOR® who goes the extra mile - and who is a Problem Solver and not just an Order Taker.

In 2008, let's all strive to exceed our clients' expectations by over delivering.

I have the perfect example of going above and beyond...if I may have I have a moment to toot my own horn...

Recently, I had a First-time Home Buyer client who had a huge problem - and desperately needed someone to help him. Because of client confidentiality, I will spare you all the details here - but I will say that by the time everything was over, he was singing my praises. Yea!

We were having to deal with a large corporation - and because of some "bright" individual's error, my client's closing had to be rescheduled several times. Everyone was giving him the runaround - and no one in the company seemed to be willing to help.

When I found out about the problem, I researched the Executives at the company and put in a phone to the Chief Executive Officer's assistant.  I emailed her, as well as the CEO of the company.

Within 15 minutes, my client had a phone call - and the problem was resolved. Complete with multiple apologies from the management at the company. My client said they were tripping over themselves to be helpful!

He will forever sing my praises because I solved a huge problem. My client said to me, "That was some email that you wrote. I read it several times - and it was quite impressive. Thank you so much for helping me!!"

It's stressful enough being a First-time Homebuyer without having major obstacles - but it does sometimes happen. I am just grateful that I was able to step in and do what was necessary for the client.

No one should have to endure the stress of being a First-timer + all of the additional stresses the come along with moving.

I wanted to relieve as much stress as possible for my client. After all, my motto is "REALTOR® on a Mission...NOT Just Seeking a Commission!TM And I do everything within my power to live up to it.

Please share...What do you currently do - or have done to go above and beyond for your clients?

You picked a topic close to my heart this week - well lets see.

On Sunday I met with clients that, in the previous week, were worrying about getting approved for a loan and how to manuever moving prior to their lease ending.  I worked with several lenders, got them approved, came up with a creative way to solve the lease issue, and then found them the perfect home!! They had been looking for over a year!!! We made an offer on Sunday evening and the negotiations lasted several hours but  we got the deal at 11pm!! Another satisfied Santrock customer. :)

On Monday I did a walk through for a closing I have tomorrow-Lonesome Pine in Cary.  The handyman had removed the washer and dryer and left enough dog hair in the washroom to cover an entire sheep dog!! So, I swept that up and took out papers that were stuffed in the toilet!! Not sure how those got there.  Oh yeah, and I replaced about 15 light bulbs to make sure the house glowed for our closing on Thursday.

Tuesday rolls around.   I've got a showing for an empty home that's one of my listings - ok - the batteries are dead on the electric blinds and the placed looked blassey so I brought some pansies over.  Restocked the flyer box, called to check on window panes that need to be replaced, and replaced some more light bulbs!!!

Wednesday - I have a client meeting on Saturday for Luxury Townhomes in Cary.  We visited about a week ago, new construction, and lucky me got 2 nails in two of my tires.  Add to that, the agent onsite was out of town and so we met with a hostess..  Do you know how much hostesses know? NOTHING.  So, I met with the REAL onsite agent today and got 3 pages of specifics prior to our meeting this Saturday. Clients are elated!!!

I've been working around the clock trying to please my clients.  Just once I wish I wasn't spinning my wheels and actually go somewhere!! I hope you had a great week!!

Darleen,

A subject near and dear to my heart - first time buyers and sellers.  Helping those who with all of the pressures and uncertainty they might run up against during the process of buying or selling  I let them know we are working together as a team and that our relationship doesn't end at the closing but  that I am there to serve them long after the transaction is over.  The life long relationships I build with them and the knowledge they know I'm on their side has been the some of the most rewarding experiences in my life.

I love your motto -- mind if I plagiarize?? LOL

Honestly, I love to hear stories of realtors who are breaking the mold, and decimating the perception of realtors as commission grubbers. I hope we get the chance to work a transaction together in the future! I'm sure I could learn a lot from you!

Donna ~ Hi - I love your comment about the relationship not ending at closing. I let all my clients know that, as well - that I'm always here to try to help them.

Dawn ~ Thanks for stopping by to comment. Don't you hate it that some folks think we are just all about the commission checks? Yes, don't get me wrong, I LOVE to pay my bills and take a trip every now and again - but for me, it's all about the service aspect of this business.
