Are your clients prepared for a natural disaster, fire, flood or other emergency in their home or community?

Most local and county governments in addition to the Red Cross offer training for citizens in emergency preparedness.

Sending past clients a quarterly report on local training events and emergency preparedness programs is a great way to keep in touch with them and help prepare your community for a disaster.

To find information on these programs search locally for information on the following:

  • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) - This training is designed to help you help others in the first seventy-two (72) hours of an event. These skills allow you to secure your home and assist your neighbors.
  • National Weather Service "Weather 101" - First step in learning about hazardous weather,
advanced training classes are provided by Skywarn & Weather Spotter agencies/groups in most areas.
  • CPR Training & Certification - Local offices of the American Red Cross & most Fire and Paramedic Departments.
  • Fire prevention and preparedness programs - from the local fire departments.

These great programs save life in your community and I encourage everyone to attend some kind of program relevant to your community.

We tend to wander around looking at the damage after storms.  It's good you reminded us that there may be senior citizens and others that may need our help in the aftermath.
