How many will fall for this.....................

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker Realty

Every day I receive an e-mail from some foreign attorney or dignitary.  I'm also receiving "account verification" e-mails from the local banks.  Granted, I don't have any money with them, but it's disturbing how many of these e-mails get past the massive spam blockers we have.  Unfortunately too many people may fall for these scams.

My father, being elderly, used to fall for the overseas lottery scams that happened, reaping the benefits of .23 winning checks once a week.  He kept thinking that the payout would get higher as people grew tired of such small checks.  Believe me, he was not happy when I put a stop to it.  He really believed that it was true.  If her were alive today, he may fall for the foreign payment schemes.  I think they need to start tracking these people down and prosecuting them before many more are scammed!

This is the one I received this morning.

I agree with you Sandra.  I get these all the time.  I delete them without reading but they are pretty annoying, that is for sure.  I pity the people who respond and lose money

If I had $1 for each of those I received, I could retire a wealthy young man.  Those are SO annoying...

Hi Sandra -I get those e-mails daily, but once i was engaged by a prospective penthouse purchaser from England who acted like he wanted to make an all cash prurhase for a $5 million dollar listing, and made the effort to call me.  I asked him to transfer the money into an escrow account and he kept asking for alternative measures. He actually phoned me from England twice.  Beware of the many schemes out there.
