Sarah, Heather and Kim have all written posts about Twitter today.
I thought I'd add my two cents and show you what you can find if you're paying attention. I monitor the use of the word "realtor" on Twitter, for example. Here's the conversation over the past 24 hours. It's a mix of consumer and REALTOR® voices.
I see at least two opportunities to start a conversation with a consumer. How about you?
LindaDavis@jefftippett I did that too many times and finally broke down and bought another. I'm a two power cord realtor now. 14 hours ago

34 Comments on Realtor Twitters: It's Twitter Day On Active Rain It Seems
OK I've been sucked into Twitterville by the blog Kim Wood wrote. I signed up with user name jolietrealtor and did a search to find Kim and she doesn't come up on the search feature. . .how on earth do you find people. . . I'm getting technofrustrated!
Is monitoring keywords EASY!?!?!? So far I'm lost!
I'm so out of it. I sometime think I have an idea about what is going on around me and using systems to attract buyers and sellers and then you show me something else I could be using and think should I be in Twitter also? I guess as I age I get so set in my ways it is difficult to see the world going on around me and wonder if this old dog has any new tricks it should learn. Thanks for the post and I guess I need to look twitter over a bit more.
I twitter here and there... how do you get searches without getting every language in the world coming your way? Quotes? I am trying to watch certain words but can't read Japanese.
I find the search on Twitter frustrating as well and am mostly following realtors right now, but am starting to look for Vancouver-ites who twitter. Have found a few, but a search for Vancouver bring up everyone who ever registered from Vancouver or Vancouver Island. They should sort it by latest update because most who subscribe only twitter once or 2x and then give up. They need Twhirl or some other twitter client software.
Ohhhh the temptation. I'm wondering how many social networks I need to monitor... there are clearly many fish swimming in a collection of barrels that I'm unaware of.
Hi Jeff- It's amazing how many different people you can follow on twitter. I add to the people I follow everyday, just by seeing some of the replies the people I follow send to others. Always interesting links posted to that lead you to new people.
Jeff, I have not checked out Twitter yet. Maybe you could direct me to a post that explains the advantages (or disadvantages, if any) of Twitter, please.
Hi Jeff, interesting to watch the twit conversations, I almost feel like a peeping Tom. I signed up awhile back I'm but still trying to figure out how to use it without eating up too much of my time.
I keep Twitter down on my task bar and check it during the day, but I guess I don't have the hang of it yet as I feel like I'm talking to myself most of the time.
I've had Twitter bookmarked for ages, but I'm involved in so many online forums that I jut haven't felt like adding another one. But yes, I saw at least 2 that I would contact!
I have to figure out how to install twirl to be able to isolate topics like this - very cool tool boy - and now I know why we had so many people sign up at twitter today
@respres - I hadn't thought about monitoring words or phrases. So this is like a Google Alerts approach to Twitter, except you're manually searching with Terraminds - or is there an automated solution? This could be a great way to expand our networks.
Hi Jeff, great post! Twitter is becoming something like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' isn't it? LOL Yes, Terraminds site is invaluable for finding interesting folks - and after you run a search, you can always grab the RSS link for your feed reader. Also, you can go to Jeff's Twitter page and click on each of his followers and decide if you want to follow some of his followers. I second (third) the recommendation for Twhirl, too - it's the best app and I tried many. I had trouble with it - had to install Adobe Air version 2 (not 3) first, then Twhirl worked perfectly.
