Stranger Than Fiction

The photo below has to be the weirdest window repair I have ever seen. At least it is the weirdest one I have seen that satisfied the homeowner. I have seen rotten and loose windows, people planned to repair down the line, but the seller of the home thought this was A-okay to show buyers. This window went into an attic that had, previously, had to have mold remediation. You will see that the vinyl siding is loose over to the right side too.

This photo goes to show that different people have different tolerances for the quality of their repair work. As is so often the case, this home was on the market and had potential buyers traipsing through. Again, having a professional repair of the window would be reassuring to people who were already concerned about the seller's mold disclosure on form 17. Then again, maybe I am too picky.

What is that?  Fiberglass insulation jammed in the window frame?  Wow, it is really is amazing what some people will be satisfied with.  It just goes to show that there IS a house for everyone.

Richard,

No, old urethane foam that has been there long enough, and weathered enough, to have turned brown. You know, that stuff that shoots out of the can and if you get it on your hands and it is there for two weeks.

WOW - Isn't that SPECIAL.  Maybe the new buyer is planning on replacing anyway?

Well now, that sure is purty.  I would love to see what the inside looks like.  Do they make that in different colors?

I think some people operate under the principle if you can't see it from the Brooklyn Bridge it is A-OK.
