We had at our church, an opportunity to listen to young man, a teacher, and evangelist by the name of Mark Cahill. Annually, Mark will speak to over 25,000 people at churches, retreats, conferences, camps, etc., with the sole purpose of equipping and challenging the saved to go out and proclaim the gospel and reach the lost.
If you've never heard of Mark, or read any of his books, I'd strongly encourage you to! He can be found online at www.markcahill.org. You can arrange to have him speak at one of your groups or organizations by clicking here.
One of the key things that I took from his message was, "Witnessing to someone is NOT a Presentation, but rather, a Converstion" We all know that it is far easier to gain someones trust, if they feel comfortable with us, rather than if we have to pull out note cards and recite what we are feeling in our hearts!
Which leads me to think, that we all have friends, relatives and co workers that already know and trust us, so why not work on witnessing to them? You don't have to save the whole world, just be obedient when the Holy Spirit is directing you!
While reading in his book One Thing You Can't Do In Heaven and came across a poem that I'd like to share with you...
My Friend
My friend, I stand in judgement now,
And feel that you're to blame somehow.
On Earth I walked with you day by day,
And never did you point the way.
You knew the Lord in Truth and glory,
But never did you tell the story.
My knowledge then was very dim;
You could have led me safe to Him.
Though we live together here on Earth,
You never told me of the second birth.
And now I stand this day condemned,
Because you failed to mention Him.
You taught me many things, that's true;
I called you a "friend" and trusted you.
But I learn now that it's too late,
And you could have kept me from this fate.
We walked by day and talked by night,
And yet you showed me not the light.
You let me live, and love, and die,
You knew I'd never live on high.
Yes, I called you "friend" in life,
And trusted you through joy and strife.
And, yet, on coming to this dreadful end,
I cannot, now, call you "my friend"
My challenge to you this day, is be bold! Don't be afraid of offending someone you really care about, because you're not! You're being their friend!!
If you are looking for a place to worship the Lord, in Toledo, Ohio, consider visiting my home church, which is Calvary Assembly of God! It is a warm friendly place with people that love the Lord!!
Rick, I'm challenged to integrate how I spend most of my time (work, family, etc) with my faith and to show others the love of Christ.
By the way...another thing you can't do in Heaven: Watch Big Momma's House 2.
I hear they show it every hour in hell. ;)
