Safety Tips
  • Always keep a mobile phone at your side; program emergency numbers into speed dial.
  • Meet all new clients at your office; verify their identity.
  • Whenever possible, avoid being at the office alone.
  • Take a personal safety course.
  • Install deadbolts with full one-inch bolts on all entry doors to your home and the door to your home office.
  • Make sure you know your route to and from each property you visit.
  • When you're alone getting into your car, the first thing you should do is lock the doors.

I am a part of my company's Agent Leadership Council.  As such, from time to time I am asked to teach or facilitate educational events.  This week, I am facilitating a class on Realtor Saftey.  It is mainly for newer agents, but I think that we all could use a reminder from time to time. We have a former female police officer that will be teaching us precautions.

The tips above are from NAR. Just a reminder for all to be aware of your surroundings at all times.  One of the most benificial things I do with my clients is to get them to a lender asap.  We all know that it helps with the negotiations process, but MY belief is that if the client has been to the lender and given full disclosure for the loan process, they will be less likely to be dangerous as your lender knows thier information (ie ss number, address, place of employment)  Just another added benifit of getting them pre approved. (No I am not being paid for that commercial, ha ha)

Let's all be more aware of saftey issues and if you happen to work with agents that are new to the business, share your saftey precautions with them.
