We recently went on vacation in Mexico. Gorgeous 80 degree days, lovely soft ocean breezes, ahhh, it was paradise. Oh, also no phones ringing and no demands on our time made it seem leisurely and serene. We have vacationed in Puerta Vallarta before, but a chance aquaintance at an restaurant with a young couple from Vancouver led us to a small village north of Puerta Vallarta named Busceria. This sleepy little village is just starting to be discovered by the touristas, so it still has a wonderful local feeling about it. It hasn't been turned into USA south - YET.

This will be a photographic visit that I invite you to take along with me. Wonderful climate, warm, friendly people, and a simple, relaxing atmosphere are the keywords I would use to describe these scenes.

much longer since we returned to our real life.

Really cool.  Maybe I can turn a bedroom into faux Mexico, ya think?  Bright colors, palms, a sound machine mimicking the ocean,  Beach chairs.  Hmmm

I have never been there - but love the pictures!  The color contrasts are WONDERFUL - and I love the pictures of the "natives" = seem like such nice humble people!!  I'm jealous!  Thank you so much for your support and friendship - I truly appreciate all you do for others!

Great pictures.  I really need a vacation.  Wonder if I can talk the kid into Mexico instead of Disneyland for mother/daughter vacation?!

I love MExico. I lived in Panama in the 90s and Mexico reminds me of there. I would love to own a vacation home there! Hubby doesn't like foreign countries though except for short visits.

Gosh, Karen, what a cool idea. A heat lamp might be necessary, too.

Thanks for going on vacation with me - Eleanor - the people are very friendly and open to tourists. (We tend to stick out) The sunburn and cameras are usually enough to give you away.

Mexico would be MUCH more educational, Chris  but don't know if it would be on a 10 yr olds wish list. You could probably drive - not an option for us.

Hi Cheri' I like Mexico a lot but I know what you mean. The whole manana thing drives my hubby crazy.

Bonnie...Beautiful pictures.  Love the colors.  They are so rich and bright.  It is funny how some colors fit a spot so perfectly and somewhere else they just look out of place.

Have you considered posting this to the Traveling Rainers group?

Cheers,

Kathleen

Thanks,Kathleen, you are right about the colors and sometimes the local art. I have brought numerous things home thinking they would be wonderful in my home and they just don't make it here. The translation doesn't come through, somehow. I have learned to enjoy it there and leave it there. I'll check out the Travel Group.

You just HAD to do that didn't you?  I was all business; now I've been reduced to a dreamy eyed girl focused on nothing but her next vacation!  Thanks a lot, Bonnie!

No, really, thanks a lot!  Mexico here I come!

Being from SoCal we're kind of like part of Mexico. But we do love to travel down there. We go to a little place called La Mission, just an hour or so south of San Diego. The touristas all go to Puerto Neuvo and Ensenada and leave us alone with our beach & tequila & lobster. Love the bright colors but the place is definitely a work in progress. They have been working on some of the same buildings for the past 20 years we'vebeen going down there.

I know what you mean Gene. They take their time to accomplish most projects, I wonder if it is a cash only problem? They only work on the buildings if they have the money for the next phase.

Hello Bonnie,

I have been to Mexico a couple times but only in Baja. I want to go again soon as I have been studing Spanish for over a year. If you speak very very slowly I can understand a lot. I would love to go and stay for a month and really work on the language! And warm up after a long wet winter!

That sounds wonderful Lori! I speak Spanish muy piquito and my listening skills are a tad bit better, but not much.  I've always thought a really intensive 3-4 month visit would force me to learn quickly.  Say about Nov to March?

Looks beautiful and peaceful. I went to Cancun for the first time last year was amazed by the turquoise shades to the water. Is the water like that there?
