How can we really have 1 tip that will improve your Google Ads when it takes more than 1 thing? Well there is of course more than one item you should focus on but this is one of the most overlooked tips that can change what Google thinks of your ad which determines what you pay. It is always about paying as little as you can for the highest ad position you can get on a page that you want to achieve. After all who wouldn't want more for less right? Number 1 Reason
The Google Quality Score is a key factor in determining how much or little you will pay up to your max bid (we will cover later how you can see how Google Rates your ads ). For now I want to get into a tip that will increase your ads performance by 10%,20%, or over 35% that most overlook.

I am talking about placing the keyword that you are advertising on in your headline of your Google Ad.

"Placing the keyword you are advertising on in the headline of your Ad is the single biggest way to increase your CTR (Click Through Rate) and lower your costs that you can do." - Joseph Bridges from an Interview I did with James on Google Adwords

Let's look at a couple sample ads and see what we are talking about. I typed in the search phrase of "Santa Monica Condos" in Google. So out of 11 ads available how many ads had the search phrase of "Santa Monica Condos in their Headline"? Only 3 of the 11 choices on the screen had them and two of them are listed below.

Santa Monica Condo Ads
So why does adding the keyword in the headline work? Well it attracts your potential visitor immediately. In fact the visitor notices that the word or phrase they typed appears exactly in your ad and that leads them to click on your ad and visit your website.

Doesn't this mean you have to have more ads and smaller ad groups? Yes this does. That is why you want no more than 20 words per ad group so that you can keep the keyword or phrase appearing in the headline of your ad. Start checking your ads and make sure you have your keyword or phrases in that headline!

Good point you make here. Anchor text is key to getting where you need to be, along with many good backlinks.

I was looking at my ad the other day, but I did not change it, because I read that Google frowns up ads that are changed often. I wanted one catch phrase that would grab people's attention, but I was not including the keyword. Your post was a good argument for considering a better headline for my ad. Thank you.

Doh... it should be a no brainer, but yes. It's the linking necessity.

Frank,

Don't worry about changing your add to often. Google rewards the best ad and they want their advertisers to be striving for higher CTR (Click Through Rates) so that the most relevant information is appearing to their users.

My brother(James) and I cover more of these things over at our blog at www.InternetRealEstateSuccess.com.
