Quincy Center consists of the Quincy Square area, as well as, the Hospital Hill and Presidents Hill areas.

Quincy Center is loaded with history. The Hancock Cemetery is located next to City Hall, and is the burial ground for John Hancock, and John Adams and John Quincy Adams were buried there before being moved the Church of The Presidents across the street.

Quincy Center

Quincy Center has many unique buildings and architechure. The Thomas Crane Public Library is a perfect example. Back several years ago, they decided to put an addition on to the library, and wanted to keep the new addition similar to the older building. The results were incredible. The Thomas Crane Public Library was recently ranked 43rd for architectural design in the Country. Thomas Crane grew up in the Quincy Point section of Quincy. He later moved to New York and became wealthy in the Stone Industry. Upon his death, his son Albert Crane donated $20,000 to the city to build the library in his father's name.

Quincy Square was for many years the home to Remick's Department Store which was owned by actress Lee Remick's parents. The store closed back in the 1970's.

Hospital Hill is aptly named as that is where Quincy Medical Center is located. The hospital was formerly owned by the City of Quincy and was called Quincy Hospital. The city decided to sell the hospital back in the 90's, but wanted to insure the hospital would remain for the residents of Quincy. After talking with several hospitals, they decided to sell to Boston Medical Center, and hence the name Quincy Medical Center.

Hospital Hill, other than the hospital, is primarily a residential area with a mix of single and multi unit dwellings. In recent years there have been some condos built in the area. The area is popular with commuters due to the close proximity to the Quincy Center T Station.

Presidents Hill is also a primarily residential area with single and multi unit dwellings. This area is also popular with commuters due to the T Station. Both Hospital Hill and Presidents Hill have some of the largest homes in Quincy.

Hello, I was hoping you could tell me who owns the fire damaged properties next to the Blockbuster in Quincy Center. These properties included the former Tasos Pizza & Euro Cafe, Fairy Nails, and Music Exchange. I am looking for a place in Quincy for my cafe & catering concept. Thank you for your time, RosannaDiPietro
