Following my post 12/1/08 regarding undertaking the Real Estate Pre Licensing training.

"Real estate License (posted 12/1/08)

Well, I have got to the point of undertaking the training to take my real estate license here in South Carolina. Now I know many Agents out there will be groaning that there are too many Agent already. Well I would tend to agree, but I am expanding a Team and will be working as my wife's assistance (licensed).

Anyway, I don't know if it's the same across the country, but here in South Carolina there may be hope! I contacted the Real Estate Board down here, to be told that they had cancelled the January Pre-Licensing courses. So I rang an independent training company, and although they have not cancelled their course they only had 3 candidates booked on it.

It will be interesting to see if with the yearly MLS dues due and the slow Christmas period, whether the number of agents will start declining in 2008."

The board andthe local independent trainer have both been cancelling full time courses in favour of one, two or weekend courses spread over a longer period, up until now.

So as long as the course is not cancelled between now and Monday 3rd, I shall be undertaking my Pre Licensing training.

So hopefully is shall have successfully complete the first step by 13th March.

Has anyone experience this down turn in people undertaking Pre Licensing training in there area?

The trend here is down.  Fewer agents getting licenses and a good number of agents who didn't renew.  I think the market has made the average person realize that despite the tag "million dollar producer" that agents work hard and don't actually make a million dollars a year.

There are fewer and fewer people registering for classes here, and in fact lots of classes are being cancelled for poor attendance.  I got an inquiry this week from a lady who wants to get licensed and join our company, now I have to find her a class.
