Marketing Ideas

By
Real Estate Appraiser with Crystal Enterprises

In a time where everyone seems to be looking for answers on how to get more business, I thought it would be a good idea to come up with a list of marketing ideas. The biggest piece of advice  can offer is to not expect the work to come to you, Go and look for it. To succeed you have to be seen and heard! With things being slow right now what better time then the present to get your name out there. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket! Take a couple of hours a week to try one or all of these ideas and who knows you may pick up a new client.

1. Cold Calling-Target an area and Call Call Call. If you mainly want to do work for banks Call and speak to someone. See if you can set up a meeting and go have a face to face with them. Ask for an email address and send a thank you note, or better yet send a thank you card to the office for them taking the time out of their day to speak to you. It is those little things that make you stand out!

2. Yellow Pages-Get yourself listed, you never know who may go purusing the pages

3. Your business card is your best friend-Always have some with you. The man you are speaking to in line may just happen to be a branch manager or an Real estate attornery. If you have your business card with you and you find out that person is someone who can use your services it is much nicer to hand them a business card then to say write down my number and go searching for a paper and pen. Make sure to tell them you are looking forward to hearing from them. Leave your business card everywhere restauraunts, the bulletin board at the grocery store, Anywhere that people go. Again you never know who could see it!

4. Put an ad on the placemats at your local diner or restaurant. That gets your name seen by hundreds of people a day.

5. Send out an investor pack introducing your company. Include a fee sheet, an order form, resume and a letter introducing yourself.

6. Become a member of your Chamber of Commerce.

7. Go to Mortgage conventions and home shows, Mingle with the crowd. Don't forget your investor pack and business cards

8. Make your prescence known on the internet. Get a website for your company, Join ActiveRain, twitter, and other networking sites. Place ads on listing directories

9. Advertise on Craigs List.

10. Network Network Network!! Try to have a monthly luncheon with real estate professionals in your area.

11. Set yourself apart from the other guys-Say you are on the phone with one of your clients and they mention their birthday is coming up, they are having a new baby, they are getting married. These are prime times to take the extra ten minutes and send them a card or call them and tell them Happy Birthday or Congratulations. If they were on vacation call them and welcome them back see how their vacation was.

Take the above as some food for thought. If you have any feedback or any other ideas I would like to hear those as well.

As a woman, I get a booth at Bridal shows.   I dress like the mother of the bride, put out pictures of my wedding day and our first home we bought.   These have worked very well for me.

Larry-Thank you for the free sites. I am going to go and look at them and see if they are sites I can benefit from as I am not a realtor but an appraiser.

About 10 years ago I started handing to my buyers a questionnaire list. It asks what type of house they are looking for number of rooms etc.. I also ask them what there birth dates, anniversaries and what kind of cake is their favorite or what is their favorite flavor. When their birthday or anniversary comes up I make them a cake and deliver it to them personally. Depending on the number of occupants in that household is the extra times per year that I get to visit them.

Johnny-LOL I am going to get a picture up on here shortly, the problem is I don't have any of myself that i feel are professional enough. I am going to have to get my wife to take one

Gary-Great idea but i don't think i could apply that in the appraisal word since most of my clients are out of state like i said thought it is an excellent idea.
