I thought the title might grab your attention.  What I'm actually talking about is how your storage space is organized.  This is very important when you are selling your home.  Your closets, cupboards, kitchen drawers and appliances are not off-limits to prospective buyers.  They will take a look inside, so make sure that they are neat and organized and that all of your appliances are throughly cleaned.

Buyers are not doing this to snoop, they are looking inside those closets etc. because they want to know how much storage area there is in your home.  After all, storage space is a sought after commodity by house hunters.  If you have concerns or are uncomfortable about people checking out these areas, make sure that you remove all valuable and personal items and pack them away.  You are going to be moving anyway, so consider it early packing.

You can visit various websites to get tips on how to organize your space, but here are a few "don't do's" that you may not find anywhere else:

Kitchen Checklist

Don't use your dishwasher as a filing cabinet.

Don't turn your stove into a large Tupperware container.

Don't use your fridge as an oversized shoe box.

Bathroom Checklist

Don't use the medicine cabinet as a facility for storing your mould and spore collection.

Don't turn your bathtub into an aquarium.

Miscellaneous Checklist

Don't turn the car in your garage into a rolling clothing rack.

Don't store those old appliances out in your backyard.

Don't turn your walk-in closet into a furniture store for those unwanted items passed down from Granny.

Don't turn your unfinished basement into a flea market.

All kidding aside, it's really important that you have a well organized and well presented property.  Storage space should definitely not be ignored when preparing your home for sale.  A professional home stager can give you some great tips on the how-to's.

That is a catchy title, made me look.  I agree, I make people rent storage spaces and get their stuff out.  Make the house look roomy.  Storage is important.

Charlene & Kathy, I just had to jump in and say that this AM when I pulled up AR the first two posts I see are your "Whats in your drawers" and Kathy's "I've been De-flowered"  You gals sure know how to get a fellows attention (LOL).  By the way, although not what I expected by the titles, both are very good posts.

Thanks ladies for starting my day off with a kick.

Sheron - Of course you may!  I hope it brings some chuckles for you.

Karen - It sure is scary how some people live.  I haven't actually seen any of these things being done - thank goodness!

Gary - I know - I saw Kathy's and my posts side-by-side this morning too - pretty funny.  I loved the title of her post.  Glad we started your day off with a kick :-)
