I just figured out another thing that I love about AR! That is, the ability to get a glimpse inside the worlds of all the various people who are involved in the real estate, mortgage, title, appraisal, home inspector, stager and all the other facets of our industry.
Yesterday a lady named D. Bass commented on one of my posts and I went to check her blog out. It turns out that
she's a mortgage underwriter that blogs mostly about....imagine this...underwriting! I read several of her blogs and it's pretty evident that she's on the ball.
While I was reading these posts, I noticed that most of the folks commenting were involved in the mortgage part of our business. Being that I do both mortgages and real estate it dawned on me that there are probably a good number of real estate people here on AR who really aren't that familiar with exactly how the underwriting process works. Underwriters are just some cloaked person hid away in the Ivory Tower who's sole purpose is to make their life miserable...come to think about it, I think that a good number of mortgage people think this way about underwriters too? Hmm?
Anyway, I encourage you to take a look at Ms. Bass' blog. I think that it will help real estate people understand a lot of what goes on in the mortgage world. They say that knowledge equals power and that power equals money and with the wealth of information that is available here on AR, from all the various service providers, you have the opportunity to read, interact and learn from them all. I'm starting to think that this might be the very best aspect of being a part of the AR community!

Bob,
AR has certainly become a powerful knowledge base on just about everything in real estate, from mortgages to title issues etc. What's so rewarding is that the membership in general is so open about sharing their expertise.
