Years and years ago, when I first started in real estate, I had the priviledge of having a great manager. Sadly, I have realized that not all real estate managers are not created equal.
- "John" had professional management skills that could have had the pyramids built in a day!
- If "John" could get something done for you, he followed through.
- John was a man of his word.
- If John couldn't do what an agent requested (for whatever reason), there was never a need to lie. Just a matter fact "no" and followed by the truth. Not all of his answers were popular, but he kept everyone moving forward in their career.
- John never ignored any of the agents! He respected them and he was respected.
John---You are unmatched! I learned alot from you!
Now, I know there are some real good real estate managers out there. They are not only behind the corporate office, but they are behind their sales associates, as well. Then, there are those that have sucked the lemon of life; and those particular managers can sour a good real estate sales person.
Here's the test:
1. Every time you ask your manager a question that they do not want to answer, does a painful smile grow across their face? Botox!
2. Do imaginary feathers fly from their lips like a cat that just swallowed a canary when the manager gives a "bull finch" answer? Botox!
3. Do you continue to stay in that office after you know about 1 & 2? If you do, well, you guessed it, "Buttocks"!
Don't underestimate the power of giving feedback to the corporate office. Sometimes the only information that is supplied to corporate is what the manager only allows them to see.
Be brave, it's not easy! Be professional; and never emotional. Discuss things with a solution in mind. If you care about the company, then say so!! Be valued. If you are not, then you are with the wrong company.
