Finding a good hang out spot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana fairly easy. Maybe you possibly need a breather from all the hussle and bustle. I suggest a night out on the town. Baton Rouge, Louisiana has great Night Life that offers good spirits and good times. When planning a night out on the town it's good to know the best places to go. So, get ready to go on a little journey through the Night Life of Baton Rouge.
The Station-
Station is right off of College Dr. It's a sports bar and grill. They offer a variety of food and have great chicken strips! The bar is somewhat set up like a train, I guess that's why they call it "The Station". This bar has over twenty televisions and a few of them are Plasma's with High Definition. There's nothing like watching a good LSU game on their Plasma TV's with a side order of chicken strips. The Station offers over 100 beers from around the world. Bottoms up! What's unique about The Station is that the bar is filled with loads of unique sports memorabilia. It claims to be the largest sports memorabilia in town. What would a bar be without pool tables? They have two. They also offer separate VIP rooms for private parties. And yes, the are all about NCAA and NFL football action. The Station's crowd is really a mixture of ages. You'll find people of all ages getting down and eating chicken strips. They usually have bands featured through out the week.
The Caterie-
Are you interested in Baton Rouge's local bands? The Caterie is. They are constantly featuring new bands with great sound. Like "The Station", they also offer great food. Of course, what would "The Caterie" be without catering? They are available to cater to all of your special events. The Caterie is located off of Perkins Road. It's a great little venue to hang out at if you are wanting to hear up and coming artist. The Caterie crowd is a bit younger than other bars in Baton Rouge. So, if you are the type that just likes to sit at the bar, this place might not be for you. People dancing, singing and partying like rock-stars is what goes on at The Caterie.
Triple A-
If you are wanting to go somewhere to shake your tush, Triple A is the place to go. They have a huge venue with two rooms that have a spacious dance floor. I do not think that Triple A offers up and coming bands. They basically have their own dj that plays the popular songs of today. You will probably be welcomed by rap and dance music at Triple A. The best thing about Triple A is the comedy club, The Funny Bone. The Funny Bone has been around for years. Even though Triple A has closed it's doors a number of times, the comedy club has remained. This is something you might want to check out. A lot of times local radio stations are giving away free tickets to The Funny Bone. If you don't like to shake your bon bon, at least go to The Funny Bone and get a good laugh.
Tsunami's-
This is actually one of my favorite places. While they don't offer music, they offer a beautiful atmosphere, great service and fabulous food. Tsunami's is a wonderful Japanese restaurant. The venue is beautiful. It's located downtown. Walking into Tsunami's, it's like you are in another country. The set up is very unique, not to mention the food is to die for. Tsunami's has somewhat of a loft/balcony where you can eat or just go have a few drinks and look across downtown Baton Rouge. The view is absolutely stunning. Please put Tsunami's on our "to do" list, you'll be glad you did. I went in more detail about Tsunami's in another blog, check it out.
Churchill's-
Churchill's is a unique cigar bar. It really is a great bar when you are looking for an older environment. Younger people do not flock to Churchill's. There has always been an older crowd there. The setting is very chilled. Churchill's actually has a cigar store in the front and when you walked to the back, this is where you will find the bar. Churchill's really pulls in the more 'executive' crowd. Churchill's always has music but it's not something you will want to break dance to. It's very relaxing and sometimes reminds me a little bit of jazz. It really depends on who is playing. It's a great atmosphere to meet up with a co-worker and have a few glasses of wine. Churchill's is located off of Jefferson.
Duvics-
Oh, I love Duvic's. They offer some of the best food, in my opinion. Like Churchill's, it is also very chilled. It's a very relaxing atmosphere. When you walk into Duvic's, on the right is the restaurant and to the left would be the bar. They offer a wide variety of drinks. Try their Chocolate Martini, you will love it. If you are looking for something a little different with a quite atmosphere, good food and great drinks...be sure to head out to Duvic's. It is also off of Perkins Rd.
The Chimes-
This is probably one of the most popular bar and grill in Baton Rouge. Every time I have eaten at The Chimes, it has been packed. That's how great is is. There are two Chimes. The original Chimes is off Highland down by LSU and the new Chimes is off of Coursey. I was elated when they built a new one because it's closer to my home. If you are going to The Chimes by LSU, be prepared to be bombarded by LSU fans and students. If you aren't down with a packed house of students, you might be better off visiting the one off of Coursey. This one is usually packed to but it's a mixture of ages. The Chimes has a huge selection of beer and a menu that will make your mouth water. Televisions are placed through out the venue to keep you entertained.
Varsity- If you are younger and ready to rock, this is the place to go. The Varsity is right next to the Chimes, near LSU. The good thing about The Varsity is that they feature popular bands often. They always tend to have some of the bigger names coming to entertain. They also have Latino and retro night. It's a really nice venue. It's bigger than most clubs/bars in Baton Rouge. Don't be surprised if you have to stand in line though. Also, The Varsity is usually a younger crowd considering it's practically next door to LSU.
Fox & Hound-
If you are looking for a good game of pool or darts, try out the Fox & Hound. It kind of has a "game" atmosphere. It's an awesome place to hang out. It's actually somewhat of a pub. They offer good food and spirits. Fox & Hound offers a variety of flat scree tv's to catch a good game, great pool tables, darts and they eve have a small bowling alley. Fox & Hound is a great place to meet up with friends, share some laughs and a great time.
