Maui Weather Report - Still Sunny

I had to laugh at my nephew yesterday when he gave the Maui weather report as - "mostly perfect with a slight chance of imperfection."  He's out here visiting for his gazillionth time, and was commenting to our other visitors who are here for their first time.  And you know, the funny thing is, he's right!

The weather on Maui can be boring at times.... mostly sunny with a chance of scattered showers in the mauka areas.  North-east tradewinds in the 10-15 mile per hour range, highs in the low to mid 80's .... day after day after day!  Yikes!  It's always a good day to go to the beach... either north shore or south shore, or west side.

All year long the conditions are ideal for surfing and windsurfing, with small to medium sized waves rolling in somewhere on the island.  In the winter months we get the really big surf, especially on the north shore.

Georgina,

I spent Thanksgiving 2006 on your beautiful island, what a week!  I parasailed, I'm over 60, and it was FUN!  I loved Whaler's Village, we went to the original luai, The mountains, ocean, flowers are beautiful.  You are a very lucky person!!  We hope to come back.  Aloha, Mary

Your nephew has a way with phrases. With blackberry winters and Indian summers, we do not have to worry about perfection in the weather here in Houston.

Lynn - too much of a good thing can still be too much ... lol

Mary - I hope you can come back soon too.

Lisa - yup, the weathermen get all excited when some "severe" weather comes our way

Deborah - we are very lucky.

Frank - you've got BIGGER things to worry about in Texas.

Charles - you know it - but people need to be educated.

That is a perfect description...Just a little liquid sunshine mixed in from time to time.  I lived there for three years, and I think we had a tidal wave warning, the wave never came and maybe a small hurricane warning, nothing serious.  We took all 5 of our children back last year, we chose to cruise the islands so they could see them all.  While we were there we had hurricane type weather, you can only imagine on a cruise ship! On top of that they had two earthquakes on the big island while we were there.  Unbelievable!  The kids still had a wonderful time and would all like to go back to Maui for a longer visit.

Hi Georgina, Not sure if we've met on Maui, but you pic looks familiar. I just sold my Kuau Plaza condo (closed Sept 30th) that I had for 3 years. I went as much as I could, & used it as a vacation rental that I called Ginger's Spot. I didn't want to sell, but needed to unfortunatly. I was unable to sell my California house for any profit at beginning of this year, so i could move, the way I had been hoping. When I first starting going to Maui frequently about 4 or 5 years ago, when I was dating a Paia Realtor, I felt I had finally found home for the first time! It still feels that way even with Paia man out of pic, & following BF I made fall in love w/Maui & helped him find property in Olinda, that I was supposed to live in w/him, but I broke it off....I need Maui my way & I hope that when I die, I will be a Hawaiian too.

Aloha,

Ginger

Kathy - you know it - Maui No Ka Oi

Ginger - I don't think we have met, but you might have seen me marketing unit 105 of the Kuau Plaza - I've sold it twice already!  Congrats on selling your unit in this market.  I hope you will find your way back here to stay one day.
