I've been hearing a lot lately about outside blogs.  My first question, being a newbie to the blog scene, is what is an outside blog?  I'm guessing this means a blog outside of Activerain but not sure.  My second question is if you have an outside blog where do you go to get one and do you post the same content on both (I guess that's two questions rolled into one)?  A third question is how do you drive traffic to either blog?   Questions, questions,.....

I am just starting and would like advice from anyone willing to help.  Real estate is a love of mine and I'm trying to as much as I can and learn as much as I can.  This community has helped tremendously already.  I'm just now starting to blog to consumers.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Todd - An excellent question!  I'll be watching your blog to find out the answer!  As a newbie,  I've spent so much time just trying to get the hang of blogging on AR..I can't imagine having to blog in 2 places.  Thanks for posting this!

Todd, I do several outside blogs such as to Google's Blogger, Brads realestate 411, and to my own blog site. I plan to work with word press this weekend and get it set up so that I can so write one post and do a RSS link to the other outside sites with tails leading back to here and to my own blog site. I will do a post on this next week.

Hey Todd,

Preety new here but have been posting blogs to other sites.
I use the new Windows Writer (free download) to serve as a hub.
I started using mult blogs to drive traffic to my website to soon find out that if you blog the same to all the web spiders will mark you as spam.
Currently I have very little traffic on other blogs. Once I feel that I am comfortable with AR I will work on other blogs. I have also started to video blog. Untapped area

Hope it helps

Tony

Not 100% sure but I think outside blog is a different blog.  I use blogger and typepad.  I like both but Typepad is by far my favorite.  Very user friendly and clean looking.  I'm a computer dummie and I did this one on Typepad myself.  For $14.95 a month you can have up to 5 blogs.

Todd - There are some people here on AR that have fabulous outside blogs. I use Wordpress.com for an outside blog. I did have 3 up and running, but deleted those to start over. I had a Typepad, but really didn't get the traffic of Google juice that you get here on AR and with my Wordpress. Real Estate 411 is a nice social site as well. Check out Bill Gassett here on AR for information about additional sites.

If you're looking for another powerful network (like AR) look at NeighborhoodsUndressed.com

Visit my outside blog to get an idea of how it looks.  I love AR, but my outside blog ranks WAY higher on all search engines.  It's not free, though, either.

I have an outside and AR Blog.  I don't put everything the same as the AR subjects don't fit both places.  I do want some of the blogging to link together.
