I was amused when I read this quote from Bill Gates .

" Like almost everyone who uses email, I receive a ton of spam every day. Much of it offers to help me get out of debt or get rich quick. It would be funny if it weren't so exciting. " Bill Gates.

Most of us delete such email without clicking on it . Inspite of all kinds of filters sometimes I do click on email not realizing it is spam because it appears to be a genuine email. There should be a  list we can put our names on, like the do not call list.

 

When you read about events please check the year for the event as some people find information a year later and think it is for that year. . The posts remain online even after the event.

Great quote and funny.      The human want for More More and More is quite fascinating, even at Bill Gates level.

Gita, Congress tried to pass a law to initiate a "Do Not Email" list to try to eliminate the amount of spam we receive each day. It sounded like a good concept in theory. There were two problems with this. One, if we were to put our email address on a list, all spammers whould have to do is purchase the list and they would have a validated email list to spam us some more. Secondly, 76% of all spam comes from outside of the United States. There is no way the Government could control and enforce this. It did sound like a good idea though.

Gita, spam has been cut down over the years but I think I still get five to ten completly spam oriented emails every day.

My favorite email spam is when they tell me I won 1,000,000 euros and I can collect it buy sending them $20,000.  Do people actually fall for this?  I hope that Congress does pass a law about spamming.  Like everyone else, I do not have time for this.  Nor do I wish to purchase another computer anytime soon because I now have a bad virus from one of these e-mails.

I had to "open up" my email acct with my company because the spam filter was too restrictive - I was losing lead emails for some reason.  Now I get 20-40 spams a day, most being fairly indecent.  Yuk.

Tina, I agree and that is the reason I try to be polite when I get calls though I am on no calls list. But with spam I am scared of viruses and scams.
