ProBlogger Offers "Killer" Advice on How to Write Better. (A Must Read)

You do not need to be a professional writer to be an effective blogger. In fact, I think that "professional" writing can actually inhibit the conversational style of blogging. I recommend blogging more like you are actually talking to someone.

However, there are definitely ways to IMPROVE your writing/blogging skills (beyond spell check) ... ways to make your readers coming back for more, more, more.

Have you been reading ProBlogger? I hope so. If not, go do it now. And put it in your RSS or Google feed reader.

ProBlogger is one of my all-time favorite Blog Toolboxes. Every time I open up my feed reader, I find a new little gem from Darren Rowse. Darren is an excellent blogger, packed full of excellent advice. How he has all that information in his head is something I will never figure out...

Anyway, Darren of ProBlogger just posted a "killer" post on how to improve your writing skills:

Great advice, Mariana. It's difficult making the transition from technical writing to informal, social speak. Even if you have great information on your site, adjusting formatting and the way it reads can make a huge difference! If you want to take it a step further, I recommend studying up on cognitive processes and Accelerated Learning (just do a quick search on google or amazon.

Thanks so much for all this great advice. We can blog our little fingers to the bone, but if it's not well written and relevant, we're wasting our time - and our reader's time.

And speaking of spell-check: you can't always count on spell-check to give you the correct spelling in the correct context. If I start to read a post and see that it's full of glaring grammatical errors and misspellings I don't read any further. I can't even imagine what the consumer must be thinking...

Problogger is an awesome site..it's now in my favs and I plan on using it to assist me as I'm new to blogging and a little nervous about writing.
