Have you ever wondered how you could be more of an
influence in the workplace, your family and the community?
Here is another installment of "What the Kingdom of
Heaven is Like" as told by Jesus the Messiah that will
shed light on how to do just that.
This description of what the Kingdom of Heaven is
like is from the book of Matthew 13:33.
He told them still another parable: "The kingdom of heaven
is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large amount
of flour until it worked all through the dough."
There are some things I want to point out about this parable.
Jesus almost always spoke in spiritual terms, so there is a
LOT of symbolism packed into this little sentence of His.
The amount of yeast put into the dough is VERY VERY little,
compared to the volume of dough there is. This is just the
same imagery Jesus uses in the parable of the mustard seed.
The Kingdom of heaven in peoples lives and in situations
does not start out BIG as life a lot of the times, but small and
insignificant. If you do not look for it, you will miss it and the
lessons learned by what happens later will pass you by.Yeast is used in the bible as a symbol of sin..... BUT Jesus is
stating a fact here about the authority OVER sin the kingdom
of heaven has and how that authority can affect people,
communities, nations and the world. In other words, as a
human being, EVERYONE sins.... BUT if you are a Christian
and you are doing what is right by confessing and forsaking
the sin in your life whenever you find it, THAT authority OVER
sin is what affects YOUR life and the lives of THOSE AROUND
YOU also.Dough on the other hand, is symbolic of righteous acts in peoples
lives and in the world around us. Doing what is right gives life to
us, just like eating dough that is baked and turns into bread does.
Yeast does a couple things to dough:
Without it, the dough is flat, hard and does NOT have a good
flavor. When yeast is put into dough and is let to do its work,
the dough is transformed.... it becomes tasty, springy, and can
become DOUBLE or more in volume. In other words, the dough
(which is symbolized as righteous acts) becomes "nice to be
around", "full of life", and becomes MORE than the sum of its
parts. The dough becomes MORE VALUABLE!So when you as a Christian are confessing and forsaking sin,
mortifying its hold over you, submitting your body for righteous
deeds and for right ideas instead of for sinful uses and ideas,
cutting off bad relationships and attitudes, resisting temptation
when it comes and doing all the other things that a Christian
needs to do, YOU are having authority OVER sin in your life and
over the world around you. If you think you are insignificant, you
are very VERY wrong. THAT AUTHORITY you exercise will have a
POSITIVE IMPACT in your life, your family, your workplace, the
community and in this world.Just as people will flock to a restaurant that has well made food,
the DOUGH (good deeds) you affect because you are living like
Jesus the Messiah will draw more people to the world around you.
YOU, as a faithful, steadfast Christian, will just by the virtue of the
life of Jesus in YOU, draw more people to you because of the "aroma"
of the "dough" you affect. ALL YOU have to do is live the life that
you are called to in the way Jesus would and this AUTOMATICALLY
happens. There is nothing mystical about it, or mysterious.
People who live the way jesus did, just happen to draw to themselves
all kinds of people who WANT to be closer to them, by virtue of the fact that
others see and "smell" Jesus with them.
DO YOU WANT TO KEEP ON "KEEPING ON"?
STAY WITH IT, YOU WILL BE RWARDED!
