Twitter is micro-blogging... only 140 characters. No photos (other than avatars), no bold text, no tables, no fancy stuff... so Twitter does not take a lot of time. Please no comments here about not having time to tweet, save the time ... move along. If YOU only have time for ActiveRain, that's OK! Twitter is not for everyone... a real estate agent got in a snit when I replied to her comment about Twitter:
"I haven't come up with a real estate use for twittering myself, but it's intriguing"
She may not see the real estate applications but others do.
Matt Gossellin shares real estate uses for Twitter.
Joey Azterbaum of Hemet CA shares mortgage rates, etc. with one of his Twitter accounts, Joey's Twitorial has a line I love:
"Twitter is like the crack cocaine of social networking. It's fast, it's cheap, and it's addictive."
Maureen Francis of Metro Detroit shares that Point2 Agent sees real estate applications for Twitter, Social Networks, Point2Agent and business:
I have my blogs (my other blogs and my ActiveRain blog) feeding to Twitter via Twitterfeed. I follow local bloggers on Twitter... I follow some real estate bloggers via Twitter.
I met Dale Chumbley of Vancouver Washington (@DaleChumbley) on Twitter. I am not sure WHO I follow WHO follows Dale but somehow I started following Dale. I did not know Dale prior to Twitter. Here's a series of Tweets that shows a very basic real estate use for Twitter (or any peer to peer web 2.0 interaction.) Its in the order that the Tweets were done... read them from the bottom up if you need things in order.
DaleChumbley @MaureenMcCabe He said Columbus, I said, "I have RE friend there". Pretty cool. Better if he needed someone. But he now has your name. ;?) about 10 hours ago
DaleChumbley Just tried to refer cust. serv. guy in Columbus, OH to @MaureenMcCabe. Said he didn't need Realtor at this time. I love my Twitterfriends! 10 hours ago
I am confident we (all of us who are trying to use social media ... web 2.0 in our real estate business) can generate business for one another through the ActiveRains, Twitters, etc. Some applications lend themselves to real estate more than others. I think Twitter is very good for meeting people. Local people and people far away.
Dale Chumbley is a member of ActiveRain ... so am I... but I don't believe I met Dale on ActiveRain ... I ran into Dale in the real estate blogiverse via Twitter and somehow when Dale heard the customer service rep he was talking to is in Columbus Ohio he thought of me... someday I will run into someone in Vancouver WA and I can say "Do you need a Realtor?" My friend Dale Chumbley works in your market!"
Dale Chumbley of Vancouver WA is @DaleChumbley on Twitter... I am @MaureenMcCabe.
Me, too! :-)
