Several communities have risen from the Katy prairies over the last few years; however, few have bloomed like the master planned community Firethorne.  Located south of I-10, just west of Katy Mills Mall this community is perfectly positioned to be part of the future growth of Katy.

Firethorne boast all of the amenities of a top flight master planned community, a 12 acre lake, nature trails, a multi level resort style pool, a Lacrosse Field, a large play ground, pocket parks and a fitness center (with an available fitness trainer).  Future project include a tennis court and a competitive swim center.

According to Firethorne Marketing Coordinator Janet Burkett, Firethorne's overall vision and real estate development has been overseen by Jefferson Development, veterans of well known communities like Cole's Crossing and Fall Creek.  Firethorne embraces the warm past and hospitality of the Katy Prairie.

This nostalgic feeling starts from the first interactions with Firethorne.  Fresh baked cookies and cold drinks await potential new residents.  New homeowners receive a fresh baked pie and a six month delivery of milk, from a real milkman, complements of Firethorne.  The homeowners truly appreciate what the community has to offer.  Homeowner Chelsea Campbell states "I love being out in the country, away from city life, and I think it (Firethorne) is quiet and gorgeous.  Another resident, Donna Easterly states that she "loves to see the families walking with their dogs and children playing outside."

However, do not let the charm of the past fool you.  This community already has the plan and the infrastructure in place to be ready for the future.  Esteemed custom home builder Ed Wiesner can build anywhere on the west side of Houston.  However, when he was asked why he selected Firethorne he noted "We chose to build in Firethorne first and foremost because of the great developer.  They are easy to work with, but more importantly, they are thinking about the homeowners 10 or 20 years from now, long after I will be done building in the community."

The development team at Firethorne also really values the needs of the Katy.  For instance, when asked why the community developed around a Lacrosse Field instead of a golf course Janet Burkett responded that the developers saw a real need.  More children are playing Lacrosse and there were not many places to play or practice.  Now the Lacrosse fields at Firethorne are frequently used and a real source of pride for the community.

Ed Wiesner elaborated, "I love the Katy area, I grew up here, and it is now one of the premier communities in the country.  Firethorne is perfectly positioned to take advantage of everything Katy has to offer.

Many of the most recognized builders agree Wiesner Homes, Coventry Homes, David Weekly Homes, Perry Homes and many more have been in Firethorne from the beginning and plan to continue building in the future.  Recent sales have been from the mid $100's to the mid $500's.  Luxury homes up to $800,000 will be built in the near future.

So as Katy grows, Firethorne is positioned to be one of its shining stars, embracing the past but prepared for the future.
