You can’t read the newspaper or watch the nightly news without hearing about the sluggish housing market.  But, keep in mind; they are talking about national numbers, not local ones.  For single family homes in Wheaton, the average sale price was $433,464 in 2006, up about 3.3% from 2005.  This is also higher than the Illinois state average which is only up 1.5% from 2005.

The number of homes sold in 2006 is down about 25% from 2005.  There were 644 single family homes sold in 2005 and only 517 sold in 2006.
