Always Be Prepared.

I wanted to share a little story with everyone to act as an eye-opener.

This past weekend I was showing property to a gentleman and his 3 year old daughter, Mia.  During the showing Mia's father gave her a piece of hard candy. While showing the home Mia started coughing. When I turned to her, she began to point at her mouth and her cries got louder. I had no idea that her father gave her candy and was not really sure what was going on. Her father and I dropped to her side and took turns giving her the Heimlich maneuver. By now she had completely tensed up and her little body did not give very much. We quickly convinced her that it would be OK to try and make herself sick. Final the candy came up and the tears continued to flow. Mia definitely gave her father and I a big scare. We calmed her down, gave her some water and she was ready to move on. What a trooper.

My point is: If you have not taken any life saving/safety classes, I would highly recommend it. I know that most areas offer free classes or they are very affordable considering what you may be able to do one day. We never know what is around the next corner in life and the more we are prepared the more we will be able to handle.

Thanks for your time and attention. Be Blessed.

Good for you keeping your cool.  Lots of folks would have just freaked out and been useless.

Folks think I'm crazy because I don't let children eat while we're driving, but this is exactly why.  I have a hard and fast rule AGAINST hard candy for children.

Don't you just love those Divine Appointments when, like Bob said, God has you at the right place - at the right time?

God does have a plan, whether we know it at the time or not.  I'm just glad that I could be a part, and that she's okay.

Hi Jim & Maria.. glad to hear it all ended well.  Learning the safety procedures is great. I did them alon with CPR way back..  1-1000-2-1000,..   Also, just in case, its a good idea to learn how to do the HEIMY manuveur on yourself... with the back of a chair, for example. Kinda like dropping yourself on it, in the right place obviously.  We learned that one in that class.
